Gary,
It sounds like you are stating the entire computer was locked up. Normally from my Experience, when you get a "Hard Lockup" it leans more towards hardware.

What happens if you just run the computer for that amount of time, without Hoster Running? Just trying to come up with some ideas on how to diagnose this.
