Possible bug in video

2 nights in a row (after about 2 weeks with no problems) at about the 3hr mark in my show a song would come up with what appeared to be lines through all the words, after closer inspection you can see that it's actually parts of the words are missing so that the background shows through giving the illusion of lines through the words.

I have done nothing unusual preceding this occurance. Oddly with the first occurance the lines were running horizontal while tonights occurance the lines ran vertical. The only thing in common between the two occurances were that the preceding song ran all the way to the end rather than having been manually stopped.

I forgot to check my monitor display to see if it was doing it but everything else on the monitor was fine as well as the desktop background when I exited hoster.

Exiting and restarting seemed to fix the problem for the rest of the night.

Next time I'll try to have the presence of mind to do a little investigating before I restart program.

Have you tried that song again. Try replaying it and see if it is the track that is causing the problem. I have had similar video troubles in the past and found it to be the specific track that caused the problem. (Due to the fact that the original disc I imported from was in very bad shape, lots of scratches and such) Just a thought.

ditto

mine did this once. just rebooting the program fixes it you dont have to reboot the machine. I have also found that sometimes a previous song will cause this to happen. it you can figure out which song, delete it, and the problem goes away.

Re: Graphics Bug

Also had this same problem, although sometimes even after only a short time into the evening. It is not the original disc, as it plays OK after rebooting, but if played again without rebooting the same problem is still there. If the track is stopped very early into playing and restarted sometimes it clears itself without having to reboot program, Perhaps somebody should investigate as it could be a bug.

I did try to get it to re-occur by playing the same songs (the one that was fine and then the one that had a problem) and it would not recreate.
My initial thought was that it was a bad import but any song after it started would have the same problem. After restarting hoster all those same songs were fine.

I did nothing different that I hadn't been doing all night, so it seems to be some intermittant anomaly - just seems strange that I went 2 weeks without it and then it hits 2 nights in a row.

Post We've had this problem

At first when this happened it seemed to be just after we had swithced the video signal to a CDG player to play a song. We are now using the 'add from CD button' and not using the CDG player.

Last week, I sang a song for the first time since importing it to Hoster. Half way through the song this Verticle line thing happened. On the next song, it did not straighten up.

I sang the same song on the next night & it did the same thing. Again, it stayed messed up on the next song (not the same next song as the first time).

Restarting Hoster resolves the problem. I have not had a chance to re-import the song that causes the problem, but, there is obviously a bug or the video wouldn't stay messed up into the next random song.

3rd night in a row

Tonight it hit again, about 2 hours into the show and unlike the other two nights this occured when I skipped from one song to the next.
Fortunately it hasn't hit during a song " , it waits untill the song is done.

We have had some clients who have sent us .kma files that will cause this problem. The engineer has gone on a buisness trip and will be back in 2 weeks, so we will get him to take a look at it when he gets back.

I have tried recreating the problem by playing the last song that played right followed by the song that messed up and the problem does not re-occur (at that point any way). I will keep track of those songs in case you would like to see them when your engineer gets back.

Question Hoster PC

In buying the Hoster PC one would still have to purchase a separate monitor and keyboard, mouse, etc. Is it possible, to utilize a cheap or old laptop and use it to control the Hoster PC. I have the Hoster laptop and PC but have a friend who is interested in purchasing the Hoster PC. He was talking about having to buy the monitor and etc., and then the idea of using a laptop with it came to mind. Could this be done?

WHY?

A used monitor goes for about $30.00 and you can get a new keybosrd for 7 or 8 bucks . a laptop is much more than that.

Laptop WHY?

Portability would be the main reason. I would think a strip out laptop would work. I just don't know how to make it work. It's just an idea and I agree on the front end it might sound more expensive but I think it might be possible with a laptop that is no longer servicable.

a laptop's display doesnt have a conventional way to adapt it to a monitor. I built a rack mount and a custom rack with a pull out keyboard drawer and a popup lcd monitor in the top of it. I basicaly roll it in plug in speakers and play. ( with 4000 watts of power.) quality & quantity.
