Beavis, If by skipping you mean the double starting of the music at the beginning of the song, Support told me it was a bug in 2.011 that affected songs imported with it.consequently it's not the software playing the kma file that has a problem, it's the kma file itself which means you'll have to reimport the offending songs. It's been my experience that when 1 song skipped it almost always meant that most songs from the same cdg had the same problem, so it might be a good idea to reimport the whole cdg.

Check Help > About Hoster for the Version
Version 2.014 had a massive change to it that should reduce the problem with dropping audio under most conditions. If you want to explain in detail what you are doing when you think you hear audio dropouts we can understand your need better.
When updating to a new version, I would UNINSTALL the prior version, then INSTALL the new version. There are some bugs that can affect the installation components that are not removed by running REPAIR. |

i will try the uninstall !!
but bryan told me all i need to do is repair. he also said thats all that would be needed in the future. btw: my problem was the audio dropping out for a split second near the beggining of the song, not the restart problem. |

Beavis,
You are correct. With Hoster 2.014 all you need to do is run the Repair, it will upgrade all the current software correctly, without you having to uninstall completely. I know for a fact that it works perfect in the Hoster 2.014 software coming up from version 2.011. Are you doing anything else on your computer when you have this Audio drop for a split second? Can you give me the specs of your system?

Yes, I feel there is a big difference...here's why... Hoster is needed to run KMA files. Most of the people who will download songs for free off the net will not be willing to pay $299 for Hoster. And since MTU has used an excellenct (although sometimes a bit picky) copy protection using the MACID there shouldn't be any free/bootlegged copys of Hoster. Therefore, the demand for KMA files will not be there for people to share. Or at least not in the quantites as MP3s are. You may get some users of Hoster sharing files, but from what I have seen on the forum here most of the users against sharing and prefer to get songs the legal way, by buying them. Most KJs/DJs that have been around awhile (and plan to stay around) will continue to get the songs legally. From the very beginning of Hoster, the format of songs and copy protection measures, have been taken into account. Whereas with MP3s, it was designed as a small format to be easily downloaded off the net. Two very different things indeed. Right now, the demand for it isn't there, not saying that in a couple of years or so it won't be, but I have faith in MTU, and am convinced they will continue to proceed in a way that will limit this illegal sharing of files. Yes, file sharing will occur, but it won't be the widespread plague that MP3 sharing is. Just my opinion...

bryan, whats your take on adding a media player in the hoster program under a new tab ???

MP3
First, MTU would have to pay $5,000 royalties EVERY YEAR to THompson CSF in France to even use MP3, not including licensing good MP3 code for playback. Won't happen!
![]() Second, we are adding .wma file import and playback in version 2.1, and a way to import .cdg and .wav files on the hard drive into Hoster. Thus, if you have .mp3 files, convert them to .wav, then import them to Hoster. ![]() Third, yes I as ADMIN split out the posts talking about a competitor AND... being totally off this Thread subject. It follows our Terms and Conditions, and I will ALWAYS edit out off-topic posts under a Thread. Fellas, get use to it. If you want to say something on another subject, start a new Thread. ![]() |

Not having 2 monitors and not running a Portable PC that MTU sells, I am not quit sure why media player could not be ran on the computer... for that mater I am only been playing around with the demo, however, I can click on my media play and run the Macarena video file and it runs just fine. I guess if I put a DVD in my DVD drive it would also show up on the monitor just fine ![]() Alan |

Alan,
'taint necesarily so. Just finished playing a track in Windows media player WHILE playing a track at the same time in Hoster(rather an extreme situation) and experienced no audio drop. Believe the drop to be an intermittant situation not necessarily inherant with demo Vs full program, and not all users seem to be reporting it. Trust Me!!!!
Media Player & Hoster Will not Co-exist in separate windows for long. I have tried it on more than 1 computer, and they are incompatable. Now you can use excel, access or anything else in another window, but not hoster and media player. I dont know about the demo I couldnt ever get it to work at all.

When the audio drop does occur, it will command your immediate attention. The few times I've encountered it, it is a very noticable event, not requiring any special skills to know it happened.
Kinda like an older LP scratch that removes 4-5 notes. Very noticable, but also not predictable and very intermittant, just like that noise that develops in your auto engine and bugs the daylights out of you, but is never there when you take it to a mechanic. Quite a bit of attention has already been devoted to this anomaly, and it is not being overlooked, so have patience. George |
