![]() I've been using my Plextor 48/24/48U for 2 weeks with Windows XP home edition. I turned it on today and microstudio V2.400 wouldn't show the drive. Switched to the other driver and it showed my other drives, still no Plextor...anyone know what might have happened? Thanks in advance. Don

Does windows recognize the drive?
Even though things like this should never happen even once, sometimes they are fixed by simply rebooting. I have a drive on my computer that is not recognized, maybe 8% of the time. I restart the computer and I'm OK.
Because I didn't pay thousands of dollars for my computer, I have just grown accostumed to these things. Have you rebooted your system? Does the problem still exist? Does Windows recognize the drive even though Microstudio does not? |

Thanks for the quick responce. Windows does not see the drive. I have tried to reboot, even restored to an earlier time, uninstalled, reinstalled...nothing. I did send for the disc with Microstudio V2.400, Vogone, KPro and Keyrite. I tried to install microstudio from the disc (after uninstalling the other one) with the new serial number and it just kept taking me back to the installation screen! I'm about to give up! It was working so good. Any other ideas? Thanks, Don

Windows Does Not See
If windows does not see the drive, then it seems that the solution won't be in reinstalling the Microstudio software.
Do you have another cdrom drive? Try removing it using the system program in control panel (I assume that this exists in XP), then reboot. If it is like my 98, windows will redetect and install your cdrom drives. If it continues not to see your plextor, then maybe the ribbon got loose or some hardware problem like that. Good Luck |

STONEWOLF,
I've had this happen twice within the last month or so. I simply did a system restore back to a day when everything was working. Take care, George |

See if you see the drive when the computer first boots up, and shows the Motheboards Bios information. Some computers show this, while others won't.
If Windows won't see the drive, then you may have a hardware problem with the Plextor drive. Another thing you could try is calling Plextor, they will beable to give you some things to try. Their number is: 1.800.886.3935
