Two Different Systems Running Simultaneously.
Here I am again with a topic more complicated (for me)
I have two systems running the same show. FIRST ONE: I have an hp laptop windows 7 pro, I7 @ 2.+ ghz, graphics NVidia quadro @ 2ghz and 2 gb dedicated. Second display ports available: DVI-d, HDMI and DP. I run karaoke in mp4 format, karaoke player is from karaokanta, SECOND ONE: Desktop, windows 10 pro 64 bits, 500 gb HD, 4 gb ram, Quad core @ 3.2 ghz, graphics Radeon 6800 HD with 1 gb dedicated, second display ports available: DP and VGA. I run in this one Hoster 5.1. The reason I use two systems is because in the first one I play only a package of music very well protected for karaokanta and can be played back only with their on player, even though is in format recognized by Hoster. My problem is to hook up the two pc's to a projector, and with a switch just select which computer second display, I want to show to the audience. I tried a KBM switch and did not work, also I tried an HDMI switch and worked but, with this issue: Everytime I selected the display I wanted to show to the audience, the second display configuration on the pc not being shown to the audience would reset. And, running both players in the same computers cause one of the programs crash. Does anybody knows of a hardaware to solve this problem (if any)? Or any other option? Thank you |

Re: Two Different Systems Running Simultaneously.
I must say you do complicate things
![]() Regarding the part of switching displays, the reason the displays have to be reset is down to Windows, those cheap switching units have to disconnect the HDMI feed from the computer your switching from and Windows then sees it as disconnected so reverts back to single screen. The only HDMI types of switchers that I know would work are quite expensive something like this: http://proav.roland.com/products/v-1hd/ The cheap way. One question, does your projector have a composite rca video in ? If it does then you can use a mini HDMI2AV converter, one from each computer. (cheap as chips on ebay : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1080P-HDMI...MAAOSwdpxUVNRL) When you connect these converters to the HDMI output from the computer they register to the computer as being connected all the time even if the output rca video is disconnected from the extended display. Next you need another cheapo RCA video switching unit such as: http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/rca-switch Run the video ouputs of each mini converter to the switching unit then an rca video lead to the input of the projector. There you go all for less than the price of a night out. Alternately are you sure the videos you play in karaokanta are not playable in Hoster ? Read my private message.

Re: Two Different Systems Running Simultaneously.
Roy what about using one hdmi to vga converter for each computer and then those outputs to a vga switch ins and from there to the projector? it is like your idea with the hdmi switch but using vga instead, Do you think it will work?
Thank you |

Re: Two Different Systems Running Simultaneously.
I don't know as I have not tried it. I do know the Mini converter works with the switching unit as I have personally used it and tested it under a similar setup.
