daddybrubeck, I too use a 16-10-40 on an old 500 mhz cel, I find that you will need to adjust your write speeds for some discs, keep the read speeds up, just try reducing your write speeds. A little trial and error, using the same disc try write speed at 12X, and 10X to see when you get a good backup. You will find some brands can do great at 40 read and 16 write, and others need to be 40 read, and 10 write....
