Hoster Video problem

I have just recently downloaded Hoster 5.35.01 on a new HP laptop. I am just trying to get the setup right because I have never used the Windows 8 setup before and have already downloaded all of the Performance Recommendations for Windows 8 as per MTU website. My old setup for video was VGA from the laptop splitting to a VGA TV and an AVI input for the 2nd TV which the punters can see.

The new laptop only has HDMI for video which I can't get to work with the AVI. I assume this is because it won't transmit from digital to analog. I purchased a VGA display adaptor which plugs into the USB. The idea here is to use this for the video and bypass the HDMI. This got the video working on all the TV's which was perfect ... except... when I started playing a song through hoster to test it - there was audio but no lyrics. It shows the singers that are coming and has the marque but it is a blank screen where the words should be. Then when you touch hoster or stop/skip a song - hoster crashes.

I restored the computer back before I installed the driver for the VGA display adaptor and hoster works fine again so it is definitely this that has affected Hoster but I can't run the TV's I need without the adaptor.

Any ideas? Is this a hoster problem or a driver problem? Is there another way to run HDMI to AVI or maybe there is another product I should be using?

I can't help you with the VGA adapter or the driver problem as I have no experience using that usb type.

I myself & I believe most users use an HDMI to AV converter.
This won't help with your VGA setup.
These are quite inexpensive and are just plug and play, no need for drivers.

I'm sure you can find the same item from where you are.

My only suggestion if you want to use the VGA as well is to use the HDMI splitter amplifier first.

You would connect this to your HDMI out then plug the AV converter into one output and a HDMI to VGA converter into one of the other outputs, again no drivers are required for these devices.

I have not used this type of converter myself but see no reason it would not work.

I personally use the HDMI splitter combined with the HDMI to AV converter as I run to 2 HDMI TV's and one TV with AV in.

The first item the HDMI to AV converter, you can run that with a splitter cable to 2 separate TV'S with no noticeable loss in quality as another option for 2 displays.

One point to bear in mind when using the HDMI out is it will divert the sound through the HDMI out cable. With the converter it has audio out rca connecters that you can use as your sound source else you will need to disable the audio though the HDMI connection. To do that, when you have an HDMI connection open the sound properties. You can either do that by right clicking on the speaker icon on the task bar and select Playback devices then make sure playback tab is selected, right click on HDMI device and select disable, this will only disable the audio not the video.
You can also access this via Hoster Tools/Audio Controls/ Manage audio cards.

MTU sells a VGA to TV adapter. This is what I use & it works great to go to an old analog TV with RCA (yellow) cord.

I have run into this in the past, those USB Video cards do not work correctly. Thus, it is a driver issue.

The only way to get Video out of a system that does not have an extra video out is going to be by using the Intel Wireless Display. Some computers have this built in, but some do not, so it really all depends on your system and if it can support that.

I am guessing this is an All In One computer? Most of these only have the single display, and there is not to much you can do about it.

Yes - just running from a laptop. Tried a couple of different USB drivers and same result

If you are running off a laptop, why not just use the VGA or HDMI out on the laptop to go to what you need?

I finally have received all of the equipment I need to hopefully make it all work and have come across a snag. I tried to google it cause it is probably just a laptop tech thing but can't find anything to help.

I now have the HDMI splitter that Roy suggested and I have an HDMI to VGA convertor running to my first display. I then have a long HDMI cable running to the other TV but I can't get display showing on both TV's - just one or the other.

In screen resolution under 'detect' under the 3rd screen it shows 'another display not detected'.

Before this laptop our older one had the VGA input so we ran it to a VGA to AVI splitter which split the TV signal (although not great quality) over two separate monitors with it just showing two displays in the screen resolution. With this laptop I didn't use HDMI at all - just the VGA input in the first TV and AVI in the 2nd.

Any help would be appreciated

In the screen resolution it only shows 1 extended monitor, if you connected correct that will be the hdmi spitter showing as the extended monitor, it doesn't matter how many extra connections you make from the hdmi box it will only show the one.

I connect laptop HDMI out to Splitter input. the splitter box has to be powered with it's own 5v power lead.

Then take 1 HDMI out to your first monitor, then connect another HDMI lead from the splitter to the AV converter which should also have a usb connection for power although it will usually work without this usb connection. Then from the yellow video out of the AV converter connect to the AV in of the other monitor.

Hmmm- this all seems really simple right

I am not using the HDMI to AVI convertor though - I am using the HDMI 2x1 splitter. For my first TV I am running the HDMI to VGA converter from the splitter and then just running a long 10m HDMI cable from the splitter to the other TV.

The TV I plug in first runs fine but then no signal from the other TV. So individually from the splitter both TVs run but not together.

I am wondering if possibly I have a faulty splitter

Actually I may have worked it out...

I am testing this all at home before we go live and I pulled out another TV to try different combinations of TV.

This time it works - I will happily test it at the pub tonight

Thanks for the help - if this fails - I will get that HDMI to AVI convertor and try to run through the RCA on the 2nd TV instead of the HDMI but it looks like we will be good to go
