![]() I've been using Hoster since 2000 and stumped on this problem.
I am using Hoster 5.30.01 on a Windows 7 and 8 and the same problem on both laptops. When I Index songs from my external hard drive as imports: I am choosing KMH, ZIP and then the folder that they are in. I select “sub folder” if needed and then have a view of the songs to index. I then choose “batch” I then choose the “brand”. NO MATTER what “brand” I pick it will always list as “UNKNOWN” When I choose “Define Field Order” that opens into a new box where the choices are there to choose from and that is where another problem occurs. I have been sorting all my files in a “Title – Artist - Brand” for years now. But now Hoster always list the MRH119 as title now. For instance the file name is MRH119-01 - Its My Birthday - Will.i.am & Cody Wise. MRH119 is the title. Is there a fix for this? I am frustrated trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. ![]() |

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Quote:
In your example MRH119 the disc ID is the first field not the last. If all your files are in the same order you would set the Define field order to "Disc ID - Track - Title - Artist. I attach a screen shot showing the field order to match your example file. If you get it right it will enter the Disc id correct as you index them. Alternatively you can set the field order from the drop down arrows manually to ignore - & this - Title -Artist but if you use this format it will let you enter your own brand but set it's own disc id XXX0xxx I personally would choose the single option not the batch then you can check the info before it imports them.

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Did it enter your Disc id correct on it's own? it will often enter the brand automatically if it recognises the Disc ID but you should be able to enter a brand manually after the list populates in the bottom window.
If it hasn't entered the disc ID from your define field order it might be a case of adjusting the spacing's between the fields by using the drop down arrows in the field order then try re adding them.

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Ok after I did a search in Hoster, for 1 of the new listed songs, it shows the title, artist and the "Brand" as "UKNOWN BRAND". I thought the drop down box was the brand when I chose Mr Entertainer Hits. Am I wrong about that?

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Providing you had the mr entertainers brand entered before you pressed the import button, yes it should.
But you can easily change it to Mr. Entertainer from the edit dialog, list them under the multiples tab select them all and change the brand there rather than import them all again. You didn't answer my previous question though "Did it enter your Disc id correct on it's own?"

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Yea I know I chage things afterwards but this version has a problem. I have sometimes made the mistake of not entering a brand and saw the problem and corrected with "Tools" "Edit".
I'll try a couple files and see what happens. if not, I can try an install and reistall. I don't remember this problem before with this version though. |

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Well I just looked at some of the files I just did and it still shows brand as unknown brand and the Disc ID is MRH119

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Are you not eligible for the latest upgrade 5.34?
Might be worth trying that.

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
I couldn't get 5.34 to do anything. Have gone back to 5.30. Still takes a lot of work to get files in. Could not use zip files as disk id goes in title slot and could not change no matter which button I used. So I upgraded my songverter and found they changed it so it will no longer make kma files so ended up using my old old songverter v. 1.10 to do that. Then I was able to get songs in 5.30 via import. I don't understand why making kha or kma files is not an option in the new songverter. It would sure make life easier.

If you can post back an example file name, type exactly how it is including spaces and separators and I will try to tell you how to set the field order for importing.

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Thanks Walt for your kind reply. I had 5.3 loaded on my desktop for master work and on my laptop for shows. I finally got the desktop to work fine but then could not import anything on the laptop. Contacted MTU and learned that 5.30 had a but for importing...not all the time but usually, as in my case. Very weird that it worked on one pc but not the other. So I bit the bullet and upgraded to 5.34. It's a lot different, and I can't say I like it, but I did get the music in and it seems to be working at least on 1 pc. My challenge now will be to see if the bookids will match once loaded into both systems. I really long for the days when you prepped a file of music and then just dropped it in the other database and everything was the same. It was so simple and it took much less time. I'm really sorry I left 3.321. It was so easy. But I wanted the marque. Bad me.

Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem
Your last post has given me hope. I have only been on 5.34 a couple of days but was under the impression I had to load each computer individually and was concerned as to how to keep the bookids matching. I use my desktop as my workstation so if I mess anything up it does not affect the laptop used for shows. That was so easy in 3.321 and 5.06 for that matter. But know I will certainly look into the backup/restore to go from one system to another. I may call for help when I get to that point, but it will be a few weeks. I had so much trouble that now only the laptop is current and I have not yet put 5.34 back on the desktop. I use the hard drive on the laptop. If I can back the laptop up to match the desktop via a usb drive to make the desktop match it will save me hours and possibly need for new books. Don't know if I can make the drive letters match as the desktop as several internal drives. But thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I sure appreciate the support.

![]() Wow! So you never actually physically have to load the music files on the other laptops?? I can't believe you can update each computer with just a flash drive. Now I can't wait to try it. Thanks again.
