songbook

I just upgraded to the latest version of Hoster. I am starting to do a new songbook. When doing Titles, and I click "A or The" at the end it still comes out in front. It makes no difference which way I set it, the "A" or "The" still comes out at the beginning. What am I doing wrong? For Artists it works OK, that is, I can click to have first name first or last. I can work around this problem in MS Word, but it will save me some time if I find my problem.

Thanks Phil

Re: songbook

I think you'll find it depends on how you named the files when you imported them or whether the actual file names are marked with a comma separating them.
Examples: Girls Night Out, A - Judds, The
Note the comma after Out before the A same with artist a comma after Judds before The.
If that comma is missing in the imported file name then it won't work.
I think it is pretty common for the MP3+G files to have the Artist name with "The & A" at the end separated by comma but not the titles therefore you would have to check when importing them and edit them in the import dialog.

It's working on mine for both Artist or Title order but then I always edit them when I import them. Having said that I just noticed about half a dozen I must have missed with the A at the beginning but as it's only a small amount I could easily edit them in the edit dialog, not so easy if you have a lot of them.

Or are you saying it worked in your previous version ?

Re: songbook

Thanks Roy. I have a lot of checking to do yet. It has been several years since I did a songbook, so I cant really remember if the A's and the's were separated by comma or not, when imported. I don't think they were.

I was playing around today with artist's names and they work real good either way. The last name first, separated by a comma or first name first, with no comma. It is almost like magic.

I will try to duplicate how I originally made them and I'll let you know,
Tnx, Phil

Now as I get to thinking about it, I have edited all of the names as I imported them to be last name, comma, first name. Funny how the manufacturers will have them either way on the disc's so it does require proof reading and editing as needed, but I don't think I ever edited the titles to make them comma, "A" at the end. My easiest way out of this will be to edit them in Word and Put the "A" and "The's" at the end of the title then relocate them alphabetically where they belong.

Re: songbook

In my Songbook, "A" always goes first and "The" goes last.

Just my way of doing it...

Whatever works for you is correct!
