Re: Music skips and sometimes Hoster crashes

I have an HDMI splitter and I ran one hdmi to the mini and the other to a tv. The audio works the TV with the HDMI gives video but the TV with the composite will not display a thing I unhook the HDMI from the one monitor it is plugged into then the other TV with the composite will begin to work, I can't get both to work at the same time. I've considered trying what you suggested and split to two separate mini's, but I think it will do the same thing with the video get one or the other and not both, and who knows what would happen to the audio???

Thanks for the suggestion

Re: Music skips and sometimes Hoster crashes

I am considering purchasing a mini with component and using my HDMI splitter to split to the mini I have with composite and the purchased mini with component. I still have my doubts on the video that one will probably still override the other and still be in the same boat, also which mini should I use for audio and will that be a new problem. I was kinda hoping that there was a workaround that I have not considered and I am very surprised that there is no one having this same problem. This computer has VGA and I have a K-World PC to TV adapter that can handle my component and composite issue (but then audio issue), maybe there is another way to get audio other than the audio output jack (that skips) or my external sound card which sounds horrible or HDMI (where cannot solve the video issue). I wish Microsoft would leave well enough alone.

Thanks, Stu

Re: Music skips and sometimes Hoster crashes

In post # 19 you say that "(Most new TV's no longer have the composite (yellow rca). "

Do these tv's that don't have composite rca have a scart connector ?
If so you can get scart connectors with an rca socket on them they are sometimes switchable from input to output.

Examples: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/17115...f14=108&ff19=0

would this solve your problem ?

The non-amplified ones rarely work. I worked with hundreds of TV's since 1998 doing videos and slide shows and have never found a composite TV that also did not have an rca video connection, wghich is the "green" one from the composite if it doesn't have a separate yellow connector for video. What's the model and make of the tv you say doesn't have a way to connect a yellow rca?

Re: Music skips and sometimes Hoster crashes

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned, but is worth mentioning, is User Account Control (UAC). What is yours set to? If it's at the highest level, try setting it down one notch.

To access UAC, open your Control Panel and choose "User Accounts". Then, under "Manage changes to your user account", the bottom item should be "Change User Account Control Settings". If you click on that, it'll open a new window with a vertical slider control. If it's at the top ("Always notify..."), drop it down one notch to "Only notify me when..." and click "OK". If it's already below the top, then there's no need to change this, just click "Cancel" and close the User Accounts window.

Re: Music skips and sometimes Hoster crashes

Stu,
Do you really need audio at your extended monitors? I don't, because of venue size, that my shows are located in... but in one, I do need more than a couple of monitors, which can be split between an HDMI and a RCA output... but I do have to run an extra RF Modulator between the RCA output and the TV. I used to have to do this prior to the addition of HDMI output, because of the age of the TV's in a couple of venues ( They haven't changed TV's in the 10 years I've been doing shows there. ), you might give the Modulator a try, mine do have audio output, but like I said, I don't use them!

Re: Music skips and sometimes Hoster crashes

Howdy, thanks for all the suggestions. I have to admit I'm not sure I understand what everybody is talking about (and it's possible that's my biggest problem).
I am looking at a Vizio monitor that I purchased awhile back. It has HDMI, VGA, USB, component (Red, Green, & Blue) and coax but no composite (yellow).

I have looked around for small flat screen TV's with the composite (yellow) and could not find one at Walmart or Best Buy, but did found one at Sears I don't remember the brand (I can find out). Because, of that I don't believe this is unique to Vizio. One of the Venues I have has a large flat screen TV (I think LG) with no composite (yellow) and another older TV with coax only. With my Window 7 computer I can go from headphone jack out of PC to my mixing board, go from VGA out of PC to K-World splitter composite (yellow) to another splitter box that converts rca to coax to the older TV, and then component (Red, Green & Blue) out of K-World splitter to the back of the newer large flat screen TV) and that works great.

I can do all this with the new Lenovo Windows 8 PC with VGA but the audio skips real bad (the audio jack in the new Windows 8 computers must be much different than the headphone jacks in all the previous Window PC's).

If you tie into the TV monitors at your bars, when they update these TV's and if you are running one of the newer Window 8 laptops you will probably run into this same situation

I'm not sure what a Scat connection even looks like. Maybe there is another term that I do understand

I'm still attempting to run audio to my mixing board and not my monitors. Tiki how do I connect this modulator to the PC unless it's through the audio jack (or something other than HDMI) and cleans up the skipping problem and will I still have the video problem.

Someone had talked about some settings I need to change will that clean up the audio skipping problem coming from the audio jack?

I do appreciate how everybody is trying to help, Thanks, Stu

AllI was saying that the green on the composite will most likely accept a single yellow rca and work fine. The green rca female acts as a single input for a video "yellow" one. Check the online manual of that TV model and it will explain that to you.

I've always been curious about this too.......... will green accept yellow?

Found this answer on Yahoo:

"If your TV is one of the newer models that have component, HDMI and RF input jacks, your TV may be able to accept the composite video through the component input. Hook up the red and white audio plugs into the red and white audio input jacks next to the component video jacks. Take the yellow video plug and plug it into the green RCA jack of the component video input. Select the component input, you will get a picture. If you get a black and white picture then your component input won't accept composite video and you will have to use an RF modulator to take the output of your legacy video devices to watch on your TV. "

Stu,
The RF Modulator is connected between the HDMI to RCA Mini, and the Older TV. I use a Powered HDMI pigtailed 2x splitter from my Windows 7 computer, with a direct HDMI cable to Singers Display Monitor, and the other HDMI side is connected to the HDMI2AV Mini > Then RCA output to RF Modulator, using a couple of Coax/RCA adaptor plugs, then out to TV (Channel 3 or 4 to be selected on Modulator & TV).

Your problem is more the audio that works through your HDMI connection, where I go from headphone jack to my mixing board... I am sure I will have similar problems when I have to go to Window 8.x computer, but right now, and in the near future, I will stick with Windows 7 and wait and see how you Hoster Users solve the HDMI and RCA audio problems, that you are now experiencing! Good Luck Buddy... I hope the other Windows 8.1 users will chime in and be able to help you!

Re: Music skips and sometimes Hoster crashes

I checked the small screen Vizio and ran the composite (yellow) from the mini to the back of the Vizio component (green) I got a picture but it was all greenish yellow. I'm gonna check my other big screen TV's here in my home and all of the monitors at the bars, to see if I can get Color. I will post back early next week to let you know if this worked.

Thanks, Stu

Please try upgrading to version 5.31.01 from here to see if that may help any.

You may have to set the TV at A/V, not composite, depending on the TV.

Hoster 5.31.01 - Music skips and OOS problems Win 7

I've installed Hoster 5.31.01 and was pleased with its operation. I played some songs and used the SEARCH function and things were great. When, I turned off the laptop an auto download of Microsoft update files began to download.

This morning I went out to my studio room to show my wife the updates and decided to sing a song. Of course, when I turned on the computer the files began to load into the system. When I tried to play a song I had played the day before, the song began to skip and hesitate. I also noticed the music and the graphics were out of sync. The only thing I did that was different from the day before was I tried to change the tempo.

Next, I turned off Hoster and then tried again without changing the tempo, but I still had a messed up play back. I then restored my computer to the same condition it was in before the downloads from Microsoft; Hoster is now the way it was yesterday.

There were a bunch of files downloaded including files for Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5.1, 4.5 and 4.5.1 as well, security update for Internet Explorer 11. Of course, I don't know which download caused the problem, or even if that was the problem, but the problem is now gone.

If you have time, can you try this:
  1. Uninstall Hoster
  2. Reapply those updates
  3. Reboot
  4. Install Hoster
  5. Reboot
  6. Try again
It could be that some files that both Hoster and the Windows Updates install are at odds. Thanks.
