Songs out of sync
I have a laptop that is only used for karaoke. I have Windows XP and Hoster 5.07. I've never had a problem with the laptop, but tonight I went down to the basement to sing. I haven't used the laptop in about two or so months. When a song starts playing, it starts getting out of sync after a couple of lines. By the time the song comes to an end, it's almost two lines ahead. Also, the quality of the recording is bad. The song sounds like it has small skips, and it also sounds kind of like an old dirty 78 record, with the popping and crackling. The first thing I did was to try other songs. They all sound like this. I then wondered if my speakers had a problem, so I disconnected them. Then I turned on the sound on my laptop, and it sounded the same. I'm at a loss. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
Thanks, Ernie |

Re: Songs out of sync
Do you have any virus checker program on this laptop, it sounds like it may be scanning your computer while your trying to use Hoster?
Do you connect this computer to the internet ? Is your sound OK if you play anything through Windows Media Player ? Open your Task manager by right clicking on the task bar and selecting it or if you cant see it there Press CTRL+ALT+Delete at the same time to start it. When it opens select the Processes tab then run Hoster, now look down the cpu column and see if anything is using a lot of CPU power other than Hoster or System Idle, the later should show a high number as anything else that is running is subtracted from this number. If there is take a note of it's name and post back.

Re: Songs out of sync
Roy,
Now I'm more confused than ever. I took the laptop downstairs and hooked it up. I then tried media player and it sounded great, so I then opened Hoster an started playing a song. The music wasn't as bad as before, but still had a problem. I then checked the connections and the connections were fine. Then I disabled my antivirus and everything except the sync was fine. The sync is all over the place. During a song I would have to minus the sync, then more minus and more. It seemed like the sync wouldn't stabilize. Oh, I did check the Windows Task Manager and the only thing that was active was the System Idle Process under CPU. It was 93. Now, here's where it gets weird. I brought the laptop upstairs to the study and opened Hoster. When I started playing a song it sounded bad, so I disabled the antivirus, but it didn't make it sound any better!?!? Also, the sync was still all over the place. I'm going to have the antivirus check the whole system, because I do get on the web once in a while for updates on some other programs on the laptop. Thanks, Ernie |

Re: Songs out of sync
Have you checked the Tools/Audio Controls ? in this screen is a Prevent Audio Dropouts setting at the bottom, it's default value is 10, if you set it to a lower # you are more likely to get problems with sync and audio drop outs, if you try at at it@s highest setting 20 and see if you still get these problems.
From Tools/options is another setting "Playback Offset" if your still out of sync after setting the previous settings try altering this.

Out Of SYnc
Well.....
I think I found the issue.... I have a Nvidia Card and My Hoster was out of Sync..........it did this before so I suggest checking to see what your color depth is because when I went from 32 to 16 the Hoster program worked fine......... ![]() |

Re: Out Of SYnc
Might also be worth checking for an updated graphics driver. 32 bit colour works OK for me.
