Exclamation Getting RED ERRORS in Hoster 5.09.02

My main Hoster Gig computer in a racked desktop 3rd generation i5 (Ivy Bridge) with 16GB of RAM and two 500GB and two 2TB internal drives. My C drive has the OS (Win 7 Ult 64) and Hoster program, the D drive has other programs (none run while I run Hoster), THE E Drive (2TB) has my music KMA songs in three different folders, ZIP and MP3+G, and MP3 files (non-karaoke). When I moved to this new rig I set up all of the song folders and it all worked in 5.08. Now sometimes when I cold boot my computer and load Hoster and try to play a playlist, I get all error messages in the left column where usually it says ready. If I index a new song file and put it in either the C:\MTU\KMA Files folder or any of the E: folders, the error still comes up. I have tried rescanning the db, (75k songs takes a while) but to no avail. The only thing that seems to work is to reinstall Hoster. Even this doesn't always work even after I restart Hoster after the reinstall. Today when I did this, it still didn't work for awhile. I don't think it is the E drive because I tried indexing a new song (KMA) and putting it on the C drive and it still didn't work. Is it me or is this a bug??? Could it have anything to do with the error 1706 message (No valid Source could be found for Product Hoster. The Windows installer cannot continue.) I receive when I install Hoster? I ignore it and everything seems to install OK.

When you say "I have tried rescanning the db" do you mean Rebuild Database ? as scanning only adds missing files whereas rebuilding re-writes all the file addresses.

When you say "Now sometimes when I cold boot my computer and load Hoster and try to play a playlist, I get all error messages in the left column where usually it says ready"

Does it still happen if you let your computer stand idle for a short while before starting Hoster ?

For instance if you open my computer and view the drives there straight after booting does the E drive sometimes take a while to appear. If that is the case it is something to do with your drive or it's connections, the drive has to be completely loaded before starting Hoster or this could happen.

Re: Getting RED ERRORS in Hoster 5.09.02

I have tested the E drive and it is fine (it's new). The E drive shows up fine as do the others. When it is malfunctioning I can add new songs to the C drive with the same results. I don't think that is the problem. Has anyone else reported this problem with 5.09.02? I used this rig before the upgrade and never had the problem.

Re: Getting RED ERRORS in Hoster 5.09.02

I haven't herd of it with anyone else regarding the latest 5.09.02 version.
There is a similar thing mentioned in the knowledge base here: http://www.mtu.com/kb/kb/index.php?a...id=24&relid=10

It has nothing to do with the 1706 error as I get that all the time when I install the beta tests.

I should put a support ticket in, you can find that now from the help menu/online support.

Re: Getting RED ERRORS in Hoster 5.09.02

One thing you could just check, open the playlist file in word or notepad.
Although not a word or notepad document you can basically make sence of it.

They are the files with the .hst extension, there will be a lot of nonsense characters but you can read which drive it is identifying for a given song.
Just check that it's pointing to your E drive.
The default place where these are stored is accessed from Tools/Hoster Data Folder unless you changed it using the save as option at some time.

Re: Getting RED ERRORS in Hoster 5.09.02

My guess is that your Drive letter changed. The 2 TB "E" drive, is this an external drive? This is the only thing that would cause something like this to happen.

If this is the case, then you can change your drive letter as stated here, it works for Win xp-Win 8. http://www.mtu.com/kb/kb/index.php?a...e&id=4&relid=1

Re: Getting RED ERRORS in Hoster 5.09.02

my music drive is an internal 2TB drive. I have a few songs in the default folder for Hoster on the C drive.
