Re: Post Hoster 5.08 Problems here

I recently upgraded from 4.11 and only have had issues with hoster crashing when I would click PLAY for someone to sing. Have had the audio background running. This past Monday night. I only had Hoster running and I crashed once. No background music. I was running fill music from our backup computer. 1st rotation was fine. 2nd rotation...all songs that have a key down...the music sounds garbled. I removed hoster last night. Reinstalled and it's still there. I need some help really bad. This computer is only a couple of months old.

Toshiba P875-S7200 i5-3210M @ 2.50 ghz 6gb ram 64bit. win 7 with all updates

First of have you checked you have all the latest windows updates including the latest windows media player ?
Also make sure if you have an antivirus installed it is not running a scheduled scan at the same time.

Regarding the key down problem, try messing with the Tools/Audio Controls "Prevent audio drop outs" settings it should be defaulted to 10, experiment with other settings to see if it improves it.

Thank you for your response,
I have done all of these things and the sound is still awful if the key is changed in either direction. As I mentioned before It has been fine except for some crashes and it was fine on New Years Eve in the first rotation, the sound messed up in the second rotation. I'm wondering if I should just wipe the computer clean and start over. Any advice before I make that decision?

The intermittent audio problem for some people is being worked on by MTU. Don't think you need to start over. Other suggestions have been made to handle this, such as Tool/Audio offset settings. Different settings work for different computers. Hope this helps for now. I believe a fix will be available soon.

Thanks, I will wait before taking drastic actions. Just hope the backup computer keeps going as good as it did last night with 4.11.

I don't really know whats going on here but a couple of questions, how are you connecting your audio, are you using headphone out jack, digital, usb out, via a usb mixer or some other way?

If your using the headphone out can you check sound controls. Right click on speaker icon and select playback devices, check that Speakers is showing as default device, highlight it and select Properties/Enhancements, make sure disable all sound effects box is ticked. then if you have a dolby tab select that and untick any boxes there, then select the advanced tab and untick the boxes for "Allow aplications to take exclusive control & Give exclusive mode applicatins priority, press OK and see if there is any change to your sound problem.

Another thing you can try is Tools/Tempo Mode and select "Normal play mode"
This will prevent you being able to use tempo control but may stop your problem.

Thanks again. I just went and tried all of this and it is still doing it. Gonna pick up an external sound card and try that. Connecting headphone out to mixer. Have tried several cords, to rule that out. But the sound is bad with or without hooking up to another device. hmm, may just be the sound card.

I uninstalled 5.08. and reinstalled 4.11. The sound is good! However, if I click on SEARCH....Hoster Crashes. I can click on everything else and it does fine. Just can't SEARCH. Any ideas? I refuse to let this whip me.
Thanks Again

Did you just reinstall 4.11 as if you did I'm surprised it even opened. Or did you follow the instructions shown in the knowledge base for downgrading to older versions here:
http://www.mtu.com/kb/kb/index.php?a...d=118&relid=10

If it's just the search giving you problems have you tried rebuilding the database ?
