If you already had the songs imported correctly all you need to do is point Hoster to your Music files folders. When you open Hoster select Tools/SongsDatabase then from the next dialog select Build Database. The next Dialog shows various types of file imports and below that Add Folder button and Add Folder/Subfolders, Selecting the Add Folder button starts explorer window and you Brows to one of your music folders, when you get to the right folder you should see all your files listed, press select and that should then index all those files into your database, if you have more than one folder containing your music files repeat the above untill all the folders are added to your list of folders. You don't need to do anything with an XL file. Providing you had them listing by BookID before they still should. I never had the lite version so not sure how that was different. With Hoster Lite, when you open your C|MTU folder did you have a folder named Hoster ? or was it named something else like Hoster_lite? if it was I should think you could open that folder and copy the contents to the new Hoster folder then when you start Hoster it should automatically fill in the list of folders and build the database so you would be ready to go when you first start Hoster.

Re: Upgrade to Hoster 5.08
Here is a FAQ I just wrote on this, this was an area that I missed when we did this upgrade! So I am sorry for making it harder than it should have been.

![]() I probably did not do my original setup for Hoster Lite correctly. I converted my cdg files on computer to KMA files. I set up my spreadsheet with the book ID in these files. My spreadsheet and the BK-ID's are in sink. However, the files generated from my cdg files only show the cdg information. That is, brand and tract#. This is what shows up on my screen when I put in the BK-ID. It appears that I may not have set up a Song Database. Before I make any changes, I would appreciate any suggestions. I can update my spreadsheet to include all the information that I want on the screen. Mainly, I want song title and artist, and of course, I will have to enter singers if desired.

When Hoster converts files to KMA the files don't show in explorer as Artist, Title or Book id they show as you describe brand and tract# I attach a picture showing how kma files appear in explorer. That is how kma files display in explorer but once you import them Hoster will display them with all the details Title, Artist, Disc Id, Book Id plus other info. Have you tried the info in the link that MTUSupport wrote just after my post ? I informed them of your problem and they wrote that after reading your problem. If you follow that your new Hoster will work the same as your lite version worked, unless you never had your lite version working correct in the first place.

![]() I suspect I never had Hoster Lite installed correctly. When Hoster Lite updated my Karaoke music files, all I found was a list with BK-ID. I took the BK-ID and copied to a spreadsheet, and I put the artist, titles in my spread sheet. That was the only way I found to be able to enter the BK-ID's from my spread sheet and know what song was tied to it. I could print a list of songs from my spreadsheet by artist, title, etc. Singers could pick out the song they wanted from that sheets and I would enter the
BK-ID's from my spreadsheet in my singer list. I downloaded Hoster to my laptop today, and I hope to get it so I don't have to work off of my spreadsheet. These are cdg files. I want to get Hoster to convert to the current Hoster type file and when I enter a BK-ID, the song will come up with title, artist, etc. I want to try to get this done tomorrow. My son is going to a company Christmas Party and he wants to use our Karaoke setup, I believe on Saturday night. Bill |

The only way I can think to get this right is start again. Depending on how many files you have this is not a five minute job if you are importing all your cdg disc's again so I don't see you getting this done for this Saturday. Once they are imported properly into Hoster you can automatically print your song books without any need of XL. You can view my video on importing CDG disc's Part 1 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhgPS...ature=g-crec-u There are other video tutorials, Part 2 importing Hard Drive files here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjf7fxEK5wk but that won't work right on yours if they were never made correct in the first place so if you have the original CDG disc best to re import them. If you want, I can check one of your files to see what information it contains so that I could then advise you as to if there were an easier way to re-import your songs. So if you can attach one of your cdg files to my private email address that you already have I will look at it. If it won't attach as it is enclose it in a zip folder then it should send OK. If your not sure how to do that, right click on your desk top, select "New" in the next pop up select "Compressed (zipped) Folder", then copy your file to that, then attach that to your email.

![]() Roy, thanks! One thing I want to clarify is that the computer we hope to use Saturday night is my laptop, and I have downloaded Hoster. I have a file of all my cdg files on this laptop. It took me all day to get them over on the laptop. I was hoping Hoster would convert them to the new file format without having to do one at a time. I have about 1500 songs in that file. Some are duplicates where I bought a disk from another source. I don't have time to evaluate which is the best quality and delete the others. Some are the same song with different artist. MY total file is 57GB. Of course, I will send you part of this big file. Incidentally, I have this big file on both computers. The ones on my desktop were converted to KMA when I installed Hoster Light, but I still have the original file.
