Hoster One

Hello,
I just installed the new Hoster One to replace Hoser Lite. I'm using Windows7. However, after installing it, I opened it up and there were no songs. So, I rebuilt the Database and it took like an hour as I watched, I saw it going through the process and counting as it rebuilt. However, the songs are not there. I did a search and could find no songs at all. What could be wrong? Was I supposed to uninstall Hoster Lite before installing Hoster One? Would that affect it? I thought it was just an upgrade so I did not uninstall Hoster Lite V. 5.07. Thanks.

Re: Hoster One

This is really the Full Version of Hoster (just one install), so its not really and upgrade to Hoster Lite, but a new version.

When you say that it did not add any songs, after taking an hour, do you have an external hard drive? What version of Windows do you have?

Re: Hoster One

Yes, I do have an external hard drive. When I did the rebuild, I pointed it to that hard drive. It showed the songs loading and finished. It is Windows7 Home. But then I search and it showed no songs available. I did highlight the search choices of artist, title, book id. But nothing came up. Then I went to the Edit Songs function, put in the Asterisk and still no songs came up. I guess I should start with uninstalling Hoster Lite and then install Hoster One again?

Re: Hoster One

On the main dialog, where the Book ID window shows with a drop down arrow, do you see a list of Book ID choices from there or is it just blank ?

If it's blank
Have a look in your C|MTU\Hoster folder, there is a quarantine folder in there, open it and check to see if any files are listed in there.

Assuming nothing is showing in the Quarantine folder Check the following.
Open the search dialog it should be defaulted to search on Brand, Disc ID,BookID,Title, Artist,Karaoke,Audio and Video all these buttons colored, they display as a grey colour when un-selected.

Check in the Build database dialog in the left hand window that it is displaying the correct file paths for your external disc drive. Selecting any of the files in the left hand window should display the contents of those folders in the right hand window to make sure they contain the music tracks your importing.

One other point, after it finished rebuilding, did you get any message boxes telling you of any failed to index ?

I don't know how many files in your database but an hour seems excessive for a rebuild, Mine does 27,000 in about 15 mins.

Re: Hoster One

There mut have been a bug or something. The songs were in the "quarantine" folder but they were also showing up in the left window of the Rebuild Database function.

I never got any errors when I rebuilt the database last night (and it did only take about 12 minutes). I guess I was so anxious I thought it took longer. This time I timed it.

However, tonight I rebuilt the database again and this time it worked! Don't know why as I didn't do anything different. Seems like there was a bug or something. Don't understand it.

As always thank you for your help! I really appreciate it.

I installed my friend's Hoster One today and everything went very well, except the all the Singers in the Singers Database completely disappeared. It comes up blank!

I had to rebuild the Database, but that went well too...

It may have been you had the very first release that had a bug in it sending a lot of files to the quarantine folder, a quick fix was released a few days later so if you had the very first one then re-downloaded the file it would have corrected the problem. The only way you would know the later release is from the Help menu About Hoster, the later one has a dot after the 8 (5.08.)

I think the update was released from 3rd Dec.

Re: Hoster One

KOD,
For the singers Database, did not think about this stuff when we Killed off Hoster Lite, but you can go to the C:\MTU\Hoster Lite Folder and copy the items from there to the C:\MTU\Hoster Folder and it would work the exact same.

Gonna have to work on this in Hoster's installer.

Done, worked fine except Hoster changed some BookID numbers and my friend now has to go back and reload some of the the Singers Songs again with the new BookID (small task).

We tried to use remove silence (Hoster Lite didn't have this feature) by using the "Remove Silence Mode" and it didn't work. The songs started as if it was not even selected.

Question: Since Hoster Lite did not let you remove silence from the Start/End, does he now have to remove silence from all of his songs using the remove silence Start/End feature to get the "Remove Silence" mode to work?

Yes, it won't work until you've processed all the files.
