Conversion of MIDI files to .wav files

Can anyone help me on this one. I've had no trouble at all downloading MIDI files from the net and playing them on Windows Media Player, but I need to convert them into a .wav file which is compatible with KHpro.
The only way I've found to do this is to play the files on the computer and record onto a MD player, and then sample the tracks back from the MD player. It's a bit lengthy, so there must be an easier way!

You can play the midi file in Win Amp and record on Goldwave at the same time.

Win Amp won't play MIDI files, or at least my version of it won't. There must be a simpler way of doing it, just a straight conversion. Maybe I've got the wrong version of Win Amp. It's 2.65 I think.

Brian Corr has given us an excellent idea that is very inexpensive (I believe Goldwave is $50).

However, converting from digital to analog and then analog back to digital will damage the audio from a purist viewpoint. If this is for home performance only, you are the judge. However, if you will play the music in public (no legal issues implied here), you want to either have very good analog converters, or do the following suggestion.

There are some MIDI synthesizer programs that can write the synthesized audio samples directly to the hard drive as a .wav file. I am aware of one that is US$159 if you are interested. The result is a straight conversion from MIDI to WAV, and it allows you to change the instrument sounds for each MIDI voice control if you want to. It also is a MIDI sequencer, so you can modify the MIDI file with this.

I was a free solution to this problem. $159 is rather expensive, I think I'd rather do it the way I was doing it before than pay that. I'm saving any cash for the KHPro upgrade when it is ready, or in the long term for a copy of Karaoke Pro.

If I save $1 a day, then I'll be able to afford a Karaoke Pro workstation for my 54th birthday.

I use Digital Orchestrator Pro (from Voyetra) it is excelent!. The other software that Voyetra sells where you can do the conversion is AudioStation32 (it sells for about $20.00, I believe).

The advantage of the DOP is that you can play around with the midi before converting it. If you need you may want to change an instrument from...a trumpet to a flute or add strings etc. As you are aware most MIDIs have an instruments that carries the melody. With DOP I record 2 .wav files, one will have the melody line VERY prominent. This helps me with the sweeping. Then I use the other one (with the melody line much, much softer) to add a delay (.3 seconds) for the sweeping, and to make the final copy of the CDG. It works very well.
