Angry Trouble Indexing KMA files

I have Hoster 5.07. My gig computer is a rack mounted desktop with Windows 7 Ultimate, 4 GB RAM. It uses 2 onboard hard drives, a 500GB C Drive and a 2TB E Drive. Most of my songs are in the E:\Songs folder. It is a rather large (26k songs) folder so I made a new folder, E:\Songs1. I put some new KMA files in that folder from my office computer and tried to index them. It goes through the processing of the files counting them off but at the end of the process it says "Added 0 songs." It also doesn't add the E:\Songs1 folder to the list of active folders. What's up? Thanks!

Re: Trouble Indexing KMA files

How were the kma files created on the office computer ?

kma files names created in Hoster are named by the Disk id that was created at the time of importing them, creating kma files on one computer and then trying to import them to another computer can cause problems with Disc id's and book id's and is bad practice and not recommended.

If when you imported songs you did not give them unique Disc Id's Hoster would have created one like XYZ0123 and named the kma file as this.
If you had imported songs the same way on the other computer it again would have created an identical Disc ID so would not import it as it already exists on the other computer, same if the Disc Id was a proper one like AH2000-1.
If it finds the Disc id identical to one already imported it won't import it, and if it finds a different Disc id but with a book id that is already imported it could mess up your existing book id order by renumbering disc's already imported.
So the first thing I should do is look in the new folder and check a few of the file names, then look in the existing folder and see if you find an identical name, this shouldn't be too hard to check if you list them in alpha order.
The fact that the song title for that Disc Id could be different won't be recognized by Hoster as it goes by Disc Id's.

Re: Trouble Indexing KMA files

I think I'll just uninstall Hoster on the computer that has the fewer songs (my gig computer), delete the applicable folders on the gig computer, then copy all of the songs folders from my office computer, reinstall Hoster and rebuild the songs database. Would this work? Thanks!

Re: Trouble Indexing KMA files

I expect it will work OK but I don't think you need to un-instal and re -install.
Just try this:
Delete the applicable folders on the gig computer, then copy all of the songs folders from your office computer, rebuild the songs database.

I don't know what this will do to your singers database though, you may have to delete it and start again or copy the one from your office computer.

Basically as you said but skip the un-install

Re: Hoster won't play any files at all after DJ program update??

Is anyone out there seeing anything like this? Anyone running Vdj7.2 and Hoster 5.xx??

Happened again, even after I successfully installed all the new windows updates, defragged and cleaned the registryTwo days ago, I went back and forth between the two programs, ran 'em both at the same time. Then again the next day, then I ran a full four hour karaoke show with Hoster. The day after that, yesterday, hoster wouldn't play its songs. I restored to the point before the VDJ7.2 install, and the hoster immediately worked great.

How bout a computer guru that can give me a clue to what may be going on here. I'm happy with v7.02, but really really would like to update again. There is got to be connection there.

I remember the first time it happened it took a whole karaoke show with hoster before the ill effect took its toll.
