Re: Hoster freezes then crashes

Thanks for responding Roy. To clarify, my "K" drive is an internal hard drive and I labled it "K" for Karaoke. So are you saying that I need to uninstall 5.07 or should I do a complete uninstall of hoster and start with a fresh slate?

It doesn’t read like that to me. The K volume for your drive is OK, I only queried it as it was an unusual selection. Which version were you running before you lost most of your songs ? If you were previously running an earlier version than 5.03 then you would need to follow these instructions first: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=13002 What I was trying to do was get you back to a time & version that was working OK for you. The reason being the 5.07 install allows you to run both your old version and the new version in unison with one another. If you do as you ask above with a completely new install it will only load version 5.07 as it would be as if you had no previous version installed unless you re-install your previous good version first. If you do that I should make sure your previous version is running correct before installing 5.07. If you want to go down the route of a completely new install of 5.07 only then I would try this: First make a backup of your Hoster folder that can be found in the C:/MTU folder, save somewhere safe like a usb stick, another drive or CD, this may be helpful if you want to recover lost play list and singers list or other info later. Now un-install Hoster then clear out the Hoster registry by following these instructions: http://www.mtu.com/faq-test.php?article=26. Doing this will lose all your instabutton settings and all previous settings. Then look in the C:/MTU folder and if there is still a Hoster folder (not the backup one you saved earlier) Delete it. then re-install Hoster but be aware if you do this you will probably lose all play lists, singers list, and other settings, it should be as if you never had Hoster installed. The backup of the Hoster folder would have saved some settings like singers lists and play lists and certain other data which you may be able to recover later but not the instabuttons as they are stored in the registry keys..

Also, 280,000 CDG songs? Really? I'll warn you that a new organization is coming on the scene that WILL go after show hosts who are using bootleg songs. Unless you paid in the range of $200,000 for your songs, I highly suspect you may not be able to prove legal ownership of what you are using. That's all I'll say about that. Consider yourself warned. I'm not surprised you have 95,000 indexed out of 280,000 because there are only around 100,000 - 150,000 CDG songs in existence. Now, as Roy stated, if you have songs with the same song identification data (Title, Artist, Brand, DiscID, Track#), when Hoster indexes the first one in the songs.mdb, any that follow are considered duplicates. For example, if you bought ALL the Sound Choice discs, you may have as many as 10 copies of some songs. Only the first will index. I'm not expert on what exactly we use, but dupes from the same Brand (Mfgr) are culled out and not indexed. |

I have multiple copies of the same song by Sound Choice because the same song appears on more than 1 disk. However, in my "kma" database they do show as which disk they are on - i.e. SC8200, SC8460, SC7542. The 8000 series are always exactly the same song, but that same song on the 7000 series is different. According to Sound Choice one particular disk set (I can't think of the name at this moment ![]() |

Re: Hoster 5.07 freezes then crashes
From what I can remember when testing this back a few versions ago, it only throws them out if the Disc ID and track # was duplicated, It would still import the same Title with same Artist so long as the Disc ID & track # was different. The other thing it throws out is if a Book Id is identical but then allows you to merge it with a new Book ID. It can't merge a duplicated Disc Id +tr # as far as I can remember.
