Re: Hoster 5.07 Beta 1 - Test With Us!

Hoster 5.07 Beta 1 Fixes and Changes

This is Beta 1 and we have MORE changes coming.

Here are the changes:
  1. NEW - Installer For Beta Testing - This ONLY installs Hoster507b1setup.exe on a computer with Hoster installed. It adds two new Hoster “BETA” icons on the desktop; 1 for running, 1 for uninstalling. This allows you to retain your installed Hoster.exe and choose which to run.

  2. NEW - Added “Hawaiian” Genre

  3. CHANGED - Words Search Now Allows a Word to be ONE Character - In prior and this version we still allow a single character to be entered to search with it as the first character to match. Searching for "Lady G" will now find "Lady Gaga".

  4. CHANGED - Tools Menu "Reset Displays" Command - This now forces these dialogs/screens to open on the 1st Monitor along with the Hoster screen.
    1. Hoster Screen
    2. Search dialog
    3. Singers dialog [attached to Search]
    4. Edit Singers Database dialog
    5. Edit Songs dialog
    6. Instabuttons dialog
    7. Show Display dialog
    8. Show [Singers/Audience] Display
    9. Background Audio Player dialog
    10. Marquee dialog

These displays will always "reappear" when they get hidden, or... when they were on the 2nd Monitor and it is not attached, leaving their "persistent" location outside the 1st Monitor.

  5. RESTORED - Search Dialog - Singers Open Folder Icon - Just like before, this shows or hides the Singer dialog so everyone can be happy!

  6. FIXED - Volume No Longer Progressively Goes Silent - WOW... this was a "double-banger" that we never, ever considered users would do!
If you set a (Playlist) Fade Out in Tools Menu > Audio Controls, THEN click; Skip, Stop, Restart, or the Random Play (yellow play) button BEFORE the fade ends, the End-Of-File is encountered before the Fade Out computing ON THESE BUTTONS finished. This caused; crashing, locking up, or acting erratically... and is now fixed.

  7. FIXED - Tools > Audio Control Now Defaults to "10" - We fixed the reason it was defaulting to "0" on a new or upgrade install.

  8. FIXED - Search & Singer Dialogs Now Restore Correctly - KOD: When I minimize the Search + Singers dialogs and double click it, it opens the Singers dialog by itself, but you can't minimize or close it without opening the Search + Singers dialogs again and closing or minimizing it!

We changed the Search-Singers list so it now minimizes to the Task Bar instead of onto the Desktop (hidden by a full screen program.

NOTE: Restoring either Search or Singer dialog will show both of them again.

  9. FIXED - CRASH Running Two Copies of Hoster - With 2 databases and multiple Registry Keys shared between multiple running copies of Hoster, it's a disaster waiting to happen! You can now only run one instance of Hoster at a time.

    Confirmed

  2. new - Added “hawaiian” Genre
    Confirmed

Ok - Mine Opened Correctly, Didn't Experience This

  5. restored - Search Dialog - Singers Open Folder Icon - Just Like Before, This Shows Or Hides The Singer Dialog So Everyone Can Be Happy!
Unsure Of This - Does The Same Thing As Selecting Singer From Dropdown List.

  6. fixed - Volume No Longer Progressively Goes Silent - Wow... This Was A "double-banger" That We Never, Ever Considered Users Would Do!

This Caused; Crashing, Locking Up, Or Acting Erratically... And Is Now Fixed.
I Ran The Test As Written And Still Experienced Issues. When Stopped Playing Track And Immediately Hit The Play While Selecting Next Track Still Acted Strangely. Playing Song Did Not Stop But, Display Went Black---faded All The Way To Nothing But, Did Not Start Next Track--acted Like It Was Crashing But Finally Started First Track Playing Again.

  7. fixed - Tools > Audio Control Now Defaults To "10" - We Fixed The Reason It Was Defaulting To "0" On A New Or Upgrade Install.
Will Test On Another Computer And Let You Know

  8. fixed - Search & Singer Dialogs Now Restore Correctly - Kod: When I Minimize The Search + Singers Dialogs And Double Click It, It Opens The Singers Dialog By Itself, But You Can't Minimize Or Close It Without Opening The Search + Singers Dialogs Again And Closing Or Minimizing It!

We Changed The Search-singers List So It Now Minimizes To The Task Bar Instead Of Onto The Desktop (hidden By A Full Screen Program.

Ok - Strange Results. If Click On X Does Nothing, If Click On _ Minimize It Flashes And If Hit _ Minimize Again It Does Minimize To Taskbar. Same Result If Hit On Maximize Icon.

note: Restoring Either Search Or Singer Dialog Will Show Both Of Them Again.
    Confirmed

  9. fixed - Crash Running Two Copies Of Hoster - With 2 Databases And Multiple Registry Keys Shared Between Multiple Running Copies Of Hoster, It's A Disaster Waiting To Happen! You Can Now Only Run One Instance Of Hoster At A Time.
    Confirmed

When you click this icon in the Search dialog, the Singers Songs dialog should appear or disappear. It SHOULD be like it used to work. I will test further today, and if it doesn't work as this, we'll fix it.

I don't understand. If you set a 5 second fade out for the Playlist, then play any song, and when you hear the fade start (or wait a 2-3 seconds to click) and click Skip, Stop, Restart or yellow Play button, then the volume would be lowered. To do what you describe here, you must FIRST select a different song, and THEN click the yellow Play button to jump to it. You state you are clicking the yellow Play button and THEN selecting a new song. That's two separate operations, and I could believe Hoster could get confused. If I'm not interpreting what you wrote, please describe it better for me to understand.

Lonman and KenKelly reported this not working correctly either. We clearly need to diagnose and fix this. It SHOULD work like any dialog box with minimize-maximize-close buttons at the upper right. Thanks for your report!

Re: Hoster 5.06 Bug Reports

Hi Guys.

I experienced immediate break up of audio files after loading 5.06, eventually it deteriorated during the show to the point that Hoster crashed everytime I hit the "Skip" button (Ticket: [34400-3921041933]). So switched to backup laptop.

I reinstalled 5.05 and it is working fine now.

I have tried the B1 and B2 versions - but still experiencing the same audio break up with both of them.

Let me know if you need me to test.

Hang in there

Tom

You need to test Hoster 5.07 Beta 2. Admin posted it in the post just before yours. Everyone is having good results and many problems have been solved.

Admin: The beta 1 and 2 testing is now removed. We are working on Beta 3 to release today for our Beta Testers. Target (not committed to) release is Monday, May 7, 2012.

Have you tried adjusting the Prevent audio Dropouts in the Audio Controls under Tools?
