I advise against getting an older version of MicroStudio unless there is no other way around your problem. This new version is so much better and reads more types of discs.

I had this same problem until last week. Unfortunately I do not know which cleared it, the new video card (unlikely I would have thought) or upgrading my op.sys to XP. I was particularly fond of Win'98 (as Dave Cox and my friends on the Forums know to their cost in exhasberation) and I hated to lose it, but other programs demanded a newer system so I had to in the end.

Before rushing out to replace bits (and forgive me if you have already done this) clear out all your junk from the hard drive and do a defrag. This often improves performance wonderfully. After you have done that close down and unplug the CPU for a minute or two. A cold bootup also clears a lot of irritating errors.

I have no idea if any of this is useful to you, I hope so.

good luck
