Re: upgraded to latest version of lite

I have forwarded a message to Admin to take a look at this as I'm a bit stuck. If others have the answer they may post here, I doubt Admin will see it before tomorrow.

Re: upgraded to latest version of lite

My suggestion is you put in a Support ticket and let Support have a look at this. They have ways that can let them see exactly what is going on.

There should be no trouble going from 5.02 to 5.03 providing 5.02 was working correct at the time.

If all your song files are on an external hard drive it would have been necessary to have had that plugged in while doing the upgrade, then you should have seen a dialog box before Hoster opened that it was rebuilding your Database.
So my first question to you is are all your existing song files on an external hard drive or on the C:/ drive ?

If they are on the C:/Drive did you see the rebuild dialog before Hoster screen loaded completely or did you stop it building ?

If you started Hoster 5.03 without having your external hard Drive connected straight after the installation, what I would do is open your C:/MTU/Hoster folder, find the Songs.mdb and delete it.
Then plug in your external hard drive then start Hoster and it should build the new database with all your original files in.

If all your files are on your C:/ drive it should have built the new Database automatically unless again you did not let it finish.
Whichever way I should delete the songs.mdb and restart Hoster and let it rebuild it's new Database.

Re: upgraded to latest version of lite

It was working correctly when i upgraded. My files are on the c drive, dont use external. I might have stopped the rebuild, cant remember. But initially all my songs were there. I then deleted all songs using the exclude folders because i wanted to start over and do new releases only books because i got in new karaoke this weekend. So i went to my exclude list and unecluded everything so i could start over with the new klh files firt but now i get that parameter error message everytime. I will try removing the. Mdb file first and then try to my rebuild and see what happens.. will keep ya posted

I know this thread was started by MrMark who had Hoster Lite, is your version Lite or the full version ? I ask this because in the full version the songbook software allows all sorts of ways to select which tracks to print.
Like Date added, genre, bookk Id, Hide in songbook, etc.

Don't use the exclude folders for this purpose because it removes those files from the database but still retain all their book Id's in the Kma or kmh files. Then if you add new files it will likely use those book ids for the new files, then when you try to bring the previous folder back in you will have duplicated book Id's. This could be where you have gone wrong.

When adding new tracks Hoster adds the next id from what is stored before it, I think that by removing folder it takes it that those book id's are free so start your new imports from there unless you enter your own (Not always a good idea) it has to be a unique # not used previously.

I'm not sure how this is going to affect what happens now if you follow what I said about deleting the songs.mdb.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is to delete all the files that you imported after you used the exclude folders option then try placing that folder back with the add folders option, then do the delete songs .mdb restart hoster, let it rebuild as it should have before, then start adding your new songs after that.

Then use the options of the songbook to select which to print.

By stopping the database rebuild you kept it from converting the 5.02 database and singers database to the 5.03 versions which have more indexing in it. So yes you will need to delete the songs database and rebuild to get it right.

Re: upgraded to latest version of lite

it worked. Now my singers db is a different story. I don' know how to get that back.. unless... I get my backed up signers db (thank god I did that) and overwrite the one that's there now (which has NO singers lol) and then when I open up hoster it should try to rebuild it. We will see.
