you can do that..dvi cables are cheaper than vga, they ae=re about $12.00 depend on the lenght..go to Provantage, its cheaper than Sewell a DVI-I has signal pins for driving both digital and analog ( vga) display DVI-D will be missing those 4 large pins at one of of the connector on either side of the flat blade like pin, from what 've read ( been doing a lot of that lately )you can get a display link and plug it in to your pc and if you have a usb port on your monitors you can daisy chain them and be able to have dual display, can daisy chain up to 6 monitors..

Re: DVI-D Cable

If your second monitor has HDMI input, why not just run the HDMI cable from your computer to the second monitor. An HDMI cable can be picked up from any TV supplier store, try that first before spending your money on converter boxes.

The only thing with conecting this way is it also transfers your sound to the second monitor if it has sound on it, this can be sorted from the playback sound properties if you need info on that Read this post # 7 in this thread: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=12572

Re: DVI-D Cable

i don't think he's looking for a converter, he's probably just looking for a cable to hook up the monitors to his pc, my suggestion was to just get a dvi cables and plug it into the monitor, than hdmi so that he doesn't have to play around with the sound properties .( just a suggestion.).

Your right billyo, still HDMI will work with dual display and gives excellent picture quality if he wants to try that option.
