Databases

Why can't Hoster use my external hard drive and use the files as mp3+g rather than making them kma files? My other KJ program allow me to select a folder on my external drives and uses the files without changing them or adding them to my laptop, has anyone else had this problem? I just upgraded to Hoster 502.07?

Re: Databases

It can, Go to Import Songs Tab/Build Database option.
Select MP3G button then use the Add Folder button or the ADD Folder/Sub folders if you have them listed in different folders.
It will then scan those folders for MP3+G files and add to the database.

There is an alternative method by choosing the Index hard drive files option.
It is all detailed properly in the manual.

You don't have to 'make' them kma files, you can create KMH files that will leave the original mp3g in tact, just adding a simple header file that you will be able to utilize the search. Do that under import HD files.

Re: Databases

Thanks guys for all your help however; when I read the manual it says that it stores the files as KMH or KMA files or am I reading it wrong for I just want the Hoster program to find the files for usage during shows rather than build it's own datebase, I used Roxbox before this and have not had a problem for when you search for a song it goes to the external hard drive and finds it and does the same for your song books.....but does not have all the capabilities of Hoster and the professional looks that you can get from it......
Thanks for all help for I am new to the Hoster game tried to use in 08 but had to many bugs for Vista at that time....

Re: Databases

If you choose the .kmh option it just stores a small file in the same folder as the original witch is just a pointer to the original file.
If you choose the .kma option it imports the whole file again in a different format.
So using the .kmh option should suit you best.

I think if you give the Hoster database a go, you might find it's worth the trouble.
Like said the KMH file is just a small file that is named identically to the mp3g file in the same folder. It just points Hoster to the file quickly and plays it rather than having to search through a sea of files or folders.
