Re: Playlists Lost and Found-Vista
I think Dale has nailed the "lost files" problem accurately. The Vista User Control Access (UAC) bit MUST be turned off or Vista can play havoc with your files, moving them, deleting them, hiding them, and other nasties. We had one user in FL who lost 110,000 song files in under 1 second. If you select 1,000 songs and delete them it will take minutes. Only Windows (Vista) restructuring its index of folders/files could effect that type of damage so fast.
MimiLee, why are you still running version 4.11? Visit http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm#411 and scroll upwards to see the versions released AFTER 4.11. You will see there are some very important bug fixes. In 5.01, we finally discovered a Windows flaw that was causing random crashing when the Playlist contents were used to update the Singers Names Display (SND) on the Show Display. This could appear to be entirely random, which made it so difficult to track down. We found and fixed this, so 5.01 users are reporting no more crashes... VERY STABLE! ![]() |

Re: Playlists Lost and Found-Vista
Thanks to Dale and Admin for their responses. User Account was off the last time I checked the computer but as Dale said, an update may have turned it back on. At the time this happened, I never thought of User Account or updates, just trying to help him get the show up and going. Also, at a time like this we never remember the exact way "things happen".
Admin, he (my now out of state friend) and I are both running 4.11. I upgraded to 4.20 last year and lost my hard drive in a crash and (my fault) hadn't backed up the kmh files yet. So, I went back to the kma's where I did not use the same hard drive that the zips were on. My decision wasn't based on cost but on the way I use the program. I already had backups of the kma files. I am seriously considering the upgrade to the newest version. The upgrades look awesome. With your recent explanation of the Windows issue it gives even more reasons to upgrade.
