Hoster 5.0 Computer Requirements for Windows XP Pro

The Hoster 5.0 computer requirements for Windows XP include .NET free download, and the latest upgrades to DirectX and Windows Media Player (v12).

As far as I can tell, XP is specifically compatible with WMP v11 – there does not appear to be any mention on Microsoft’s download site(s) of XP compatibility with WMP12.

Can anyone recommend a reliable WMP (v12) download that will definitely work on XP? Or will Hoster 5.0 actually work properly with WMP (v11) on XP Pro OS.

No point in upgrading my XP Pro PC to Hoster 5.0 if WMP is going to be a problem.

Thanks.

For XP it is recommended Windows Media Player (v11).

Thanks for the very prompt response Roy … and for confirming WMP 11 compatibility for XP.

The Hoster 5.0 info on MTU’s website below is contradictory.

Here’s the piece in question – copied from the above link.

Computer Requirements
1. Video Hoster runs on Windows XP Home, Pro or Mediacenter with SP3, Vista (32 and 64-bits) with SR1, or Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit). XP and Vista require .NET free download, and the latest upgrades to DirectX and Windows Media Player (v12).

Yes it's a bit missleading. This is printed in the new manual
"QuoteYou need Version 9 or higher for XP, Version 11 for Vista or Version 12 for Windows 7. Hoster uses WMP to display the graphics/lyrics/video screens to play still and motion video graphics formats supported by WMP, and to display the Visualization gyrating images while the Background Audio Player is playing"
