Cool Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

The only problem I have when importing is that it will go through the process, and sometimes in the middle of the disk it's importing, I get a kma failure error. Any suggestions on how to keep this from happening? It didn't do this until I upgraded to the newest version. The exact error says "error in creating kma file"

Lonman,

Based on your input, I upgraded my RAM to 2G. I haven't imported much since I only have the discs that have to be imported manually due to not being recognized by the databases. I'll install them when I'm bored and want something to do to pass the time. So, I'm not sure the increase in RAM has helped, but I'm sure it hasn't hurt.

Thanks,

Wes

Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

There have been 2 more updates that increase the number of songs in the database. Get the latest (4.32.03) and it will add an additional 40,000 songs to the internal database.

Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

Dale,

Thanks, I did it yesterday, but was confused because this is month 02 and I thought the changes were tied-in to the month they are released. Also, I'm not sure how we know we have the change.

I'm glad they do, but for Gee Wiz, purposes how does MTU develop the database changes?

Wes

Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

It is tied to the month (they just got ahead a couple days)

For your Gee Whiz, they take our inputs and add them. When you have to type in a new CD or it is loaded from the on-line database (be sure you correct the Artists name to right format) then that information is sent to MTU when you are on-line and that gets incorporated into the database. It is verified for correct names and titles, before it is added.

Recently purchased new HP pavillion dv6-3230us. CD drive will not regonize cdg disk. At this point I don,t know if it is the hoster software or the cd drive.
Any comments welcome.

Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

Thanks for the reply. Tested good. When I try to import hoster says cd/dvd drive not ready. Please insert a disc and try again. I have tried several original disc, not copies.

Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

I get the same thing on my Durabook I bought from MTU. I haven't spent time trying to debug it because I import on my desktop so it hasn't been an emergency.
I am pretty sure it worked when I first got the notebook 2 summers ago. I have not changed anything on the notebook except to install 1 Hoster update that came out a few months later. I can't remember what the default Microsoft update settings are that MTU set (I haven't changed them), but that would be the only other updates that have happened.
What I see is that the drive passes the MTU test, plays any disk I put in it, but if I use Hoster or Microstudio to access the drive it says 'not ready'.
My plan is to upgrade Hoster to the latest release in a few months (when I get time) and see if that fixes it.

Your drive is similar to the one on my HP Laptop, except that mine is Blu-Ray compatible... Give us some more information about your Operating System (XP, Vista, Windows 7), and what Version of Hoster you are using?

Did you make the changes required for Hoster to function correctly from this link?
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/windows7-changes.htm

Don't know that it will help but should be done anyway to make Hoster behave.

Also, did the computer come with Nero or Roxio programs installed? Both of these programs will have an automatic start-up that will lock the drive for their own use. WMP gets around that, but others can't.

Randy have you kept up with the Microsoft updates (non-hardware)? As releases of Hoster are made available they are set-up for the latest updates from Microsoft. Just don't use the hardware updates from Microsoft, because they tend to not be right.

Hi Douglass
I left the Durabook settings exactly as MTU configured them. I seem to recall reading that they were for security patches only, but that was 20 month ago so I could be remembering incorrectly. My plan was to 'leave the Durabook alone' except for updates from MTU so that I would minimize problems. When I do get around to updating the MTU software I will then tinker with drivers etc if I have to to get things working correctly.

That doesn't mean anything, all regular cd players will play the audio portion of a cdg. I am thinking it is a drive issue not being cdg compatible. You may need to get yourself an external.

Unhappy Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

Purchased upgade recently, solved the import problem till tonight, now I am having the same problem. Message says cd/dvd drive not ready. The only changes I made was to set up intermission display. Could that be the problem? How do you disable that feature? Any help appreciated.
Thanks, frustated in ga.

Re: Problems Importing CDs in Hoster

I've had this myself, I had to go to the Tools/CD/DVD drives, press the retest button then save. Make sure the drive showing in the Default read drive window is the correct one.

If you have already tried this or it didn't work for you report back.
