Ati Radeon or NVidia Video Cards?

Howdy all!

Haven't posted in quite some time. Lurking and reading, and trying to stay up with the changes in Hoster and MicroStudio. Thank you MTU for these very good programs and the upgrades to them both. Very good work!

The question:

Will be upgrading my show laptop to a new Dell XPS laptop 64-bit and Win7, with min 4gb ram, and an Intel I-5 2.53ghz processor with turbo boost to 3.2 ghz, and the NVidia GeForce gt 420 w/1gb graphics. Any problems with Hoster, or MS for that matter, that we know of when using any of the NVidia cards?

Get a great company discount when using Dell, as well as have three other of their machines and enjoyed very good usage/service, etc.

Anyone see or know anything to add to this particular XPS?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave
Some people have reported problems with Nvidea cards, not as far as I know your particular one. Most of the problems were a driver issue and the problem was solved by loading an older driver. This problem may have been solved with the latest cards.

Re: Ati Radeon or NVidia Video Cards?

It was an older card too. Since this is a newer card there haven't been any issues yet.

Re: Ati Radeon or NVidia Video Cards?

I've always had nViidea cards and there WERE a few a while back that were finicky with several DJ programs I worked with. The DJ program seemed to work a little more "stabler" with Radeon. I think if i were ever to buy another laptop or PC, I would check for radeon myself, however.

Re: Ati Radeon or NVidia Video Cards?

I have used nVidia cards in both my main machine & home test computers with no problems at all.

Re: Ati Radeon or NVidia Video Cards?

Memphisdave,

How did your Dell XPS Laptop work out with Hoster? I've about convinced myself to get a new laptop and I've looked at HP and Dell. Unfortunately I don't get a discount from either.

Thanks for any input,

Wes
