Latest Video Hoster Version
Can this version update the KMA Header from an edited Songs.MDB?
Something similar to what hoster 2.12 used to be able to do as listed in the "UPGRADE NOTIFICATION" section as: Quote:

Re: Latest Video Hoster Version
I am not quite sure what you are asking about since that version was before I started working with Hoster.
It is not recommended for you to edit the Songs.mdb except through Hoster's Edit Songs utility. This does edit both the database and the KMA file if you make a change to Singers, Artist or any other field.

Re: Latest Video Hoster Version
I want to make mass edits...not one at a time.
Editing the the Songs.MDB, whether recommended or not, is the way to do this with ease and en mase. Once the Songs.MDB is edited, Hoster should have the ability to update the KMA header based on what is listed in the Songs.MDB. This is what a prior version of Hoster was able to do. This is what I am asking if the Lastest version of Video Hoster has the ability to do. |

Re: Latest Video Hoster Version
If you edit the Songs .mdb outside of Hoster you will lose all your editing as soon as you rebuild the database. You can do mass editing from the edit dialog, first select multiple highlight the field you need to edit, example select Artist enter Elvis Presley list all Elvis Presley and change to Presley, Elvis then Apply changes. This can be done on most fields in the multiple tabs except for DiscID. book id & No S-E.

Re: Latest Video Hoster Version
So, you are suggesting I update, one at a time...4000 missing artists? The Artist fields are named with Genre...i.e. POP, BALLAD, etc. We are not talking about a simple edit like transposing a Proper Name...as in your example. I have a Artist/Title list that I can copy into an AccessDB in a microsecond. I just need a way to update the KMAs based on that update.
If I have to edit one at a time, I may as well fix the file before importing. It would take the same amount of time. I got it to work...but, the resulting file got updated as a CDCDG verses a HDBIN, which caused the KMAs not to PLAY. I went into the Songs.mdb and renamed from CDCDG to HDBIN and they played OK. Not wanting to have to rename the column after a DB rebuild, I tried using Songverter to take the resulting KMAs back to BIN, which, when converted back, maintains the Artist and Title info, and then, simply re-import as a BIN completing the cycle to a clean and backward convertible KMA. But, Songverter could not convert back to BIN or MP3+G. It only converted back to WMA+G. Upon viewing the CDG with EDITCDG, the CDG file was corrupt. Trying to use a WMA to MP3 converter stated that the WMA was a protected audio file. So, Songverter didn't help. Obviously, the older version of Hoster is doing more than just updating ARTIST and TITLE info. I'll keep testing with this old version. I've got a few more ideas to try. Thanks |

The Edit Songs dialog Multiple View does allow modifying more than one song at a time, if you modify one field at a time, and select only the songs to update this field in their header. Try the demo. What made you want to upgrade? |

Re: Latest Video Hoster Version
The .MDB Database is built from the headers not the other way round. You can't change the header information by editing in Access.
Which version of Hoster do you currently have ? If these are hard drive files you may find it quicker to reimport them choosing the correct field order this would be the best option. If they are CD's then it will be a slow process but probably better in the end.

Also, whether the song is listed as CDCDG or HDBIN should have no effect since when either of those are imported they are converted to compressed WMA+G in a KMA file.

It is not a malfunction of Songverter, which I dearly love and use it all the time, where the problem exists. It is the older version of Hoster that has changed the KMA's to be recognized as a CDCDG import verses a HDBIN import. What I did yesterday was to re-import the trks as HDZIPs. My thoery was that Hoster does not change the actual CDG and MP3 files within...only wraps a Header around the ZIP. The resulting .KMAs can be renamed to .ZIP and the two files within the ZIP can be extracted and will PLAY. This cannot be done if Trks are imported via HDBIN, HDCDG, or CDCDG as the complete file gets converted to the proprietary KMA. So with the HDZIPs, I used 2.114 to modify the KMA Headers, via the modified Songs.MDB. I copied the modified files back to 3.3xx, rebuilt the DB and again, the KMAs were showing as CDCDG...as if the files were imported from a CD and not from a HD and would not Play unless I changed the TYPE field back to HDZIP in the Songs.MDB. And, of course, Songverter would NOT convert the KMAs either. But, in this case, I could rename the .KMA to .ZIP, extract the two files and Play them OK. This means the main files within the KMAs were not corrupted as was the case with the "modified" HDBIN import. I used a TXT editor to compare an imported KMA that played as a TYPE HDZIP with the updated KMA that wouldn't play due to the TYPE showing as a CDCDG and found where the difference was. I copied the correct HEX information to the modified KMA and Songverter extracted it correctly along with the updated Artist and Title info that I needed. Now I just have to find a way to automate copying the correct HEX info to all the KMAs to finalize this monumental task. I purchased the Tropical Zone 5 DVD Mp3+CDG set that has 800 Latin songs per DVD totaling 4000 songs. Upon extracting the Mp3+CDG files, all the ARTISTS were missing. TZL inserted Genre in the ARTIST field of the files. This is what extracted: 0001 Pop - 1 2 3.zip 0002 Oldies - 100 Kilos De Barro.zip 0003 Salsa - A Donde Iras.zip When it should be: 0001 El Simbolo - 1 2 3.zip 0002 Enrique Guzman - 100 Kilos De Barro.zip 0003 Puerto Rican Power - A Donde Iras.zip From the TZL website, you can download a Listing for each DVD. Hoster can import 99 songs per BookID. I copy 1-99 Artists from the list, drop it into the Songs.MDB Artist column, run the Update, and bam, no typing...Al done in a New York minute. Talk about a great gift for Christmas! I'm sure this is all "Clear As Mud." Anyway, I've bent your ears enough. Suffice to say, I got it figured out. Mainly, I wanted to know if Video Hoster could update KMAs from an edited Songs.MDB. Thanks for all the posts and concerns. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Norm...on my wife's account. |

Re: Latest Video Hoster Version
After making your changes manually in the database, In edit songs, Use the asterisk to bring up every song and then highlight all of them to select every song in the database (in multiple mode) and click apply.
Caution: You run the risk of screwing up your genres, language and mpx settings. There were some 4.x versions that were effected. I would do some small scale experiments to make sure there are no unintended consequences.
