Re: MS 4.30 shows no CD drive

John,
Try this link for Windows 7 updates. Some of the things that you have to turn off could be setup with a different use to be on if that is what you are referring to. This way you log on with one use for karaoke and a different one for everyday.

Re: MS 4.30 shows no CD drive

Thanks for the response Dale.

My Microstudio install was on a new machine (Desktop 1).
I have been waiting for the new 64 bit release so Microstudio
had never been on desktop 1. I installed, then restarted the
computer. When I started Microstudio I was not prompted to test
the CD drives for compatibility. Once the program started,
all buttons that address the use of the CD drive were ghosted out.
Upon opening the "Default Drives" option a message appeared that
stated "No Drives Available" (a Mstudio message). The "Default Drive"
dialog could NOT be dismissed. I had to use the Task Manager to stop
the Mstudio process.

I removed Microstudio, reinstalled, and had the same results again.

I installed the new Mstudio on my old XP machine and all works well.
The XP machine had an older version of Mstudio already installed.
The installation of the new Mstudio was done using "Upgrade".

Gary C.

Re: MS 4.30 shows no CD drive

Gary do you have a copy of the previous version that you can install on the new computer (take the new one off first), set your drives, and then Upgrade to the newest version. See if that works. If you don't have the previous version you can download it from the Support/Downloads on the main web page.
John the same for you try doing it this way and see if you get the drives back.
I will go ahead and report this to MTU, so they can look into it as new costomers won't have that option.

Re: MS 4.30 shows no CD drive

Dale,
I have tried a previous version and it will not install. A message
is displayed that states the program is for 32 bit and will
not even open the install shield.

Re: MS 4.30 shows no CD drive

Go back to version 4.20. I don't think that message was added except in 4.22.

ddouglass:
Are you saying that if make a second user? say "Karaoke". my pc can be set to use the changes when "karaoke" is accessed, but normal settings when I sign in as me?
Sorry, I'm not verse in computers.. MTU used to be simple, just download and use.. but now all the adjustments and alterations....reconfiguring my PC for it's usage. very confusing.

I'd also like to thank you. You've been very helpful and informative in the past. I appreciate your input.

I see Gary is having the same issues.
Gary:
did you make all the MTU suggested changes to your Windows 7?

Re: MS 4.30 shows no CD drive

V4.22 installed and queried for the testing of CD drives.
CD options were active but I did not try to use them (yet).
I then installed 4.23 using the upgrade option.
Mstudio installed, but all CD options were grayed out as before.
The "Default Drive" dialog did cancel this time when the "Close"
button was clicked.

I am going to try a couple other install methods. I'll report back.

John, yes all upgrades and drivers have been installed.
