Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
Beavis is incorrect. This was the recommendation before the problems with Vista and Windows 7 were before they discovered what had to be done to fix it to work. In fact MTU's laptops are now shipped with Windows 7.
That said XP has and still does offer the least amount of problems with Hoster. ![]()

I understand that. You need to read several of the previous posts. This comment was in reference to XP PRO. It was started by the comment that everyone should be running XP PRO. To my recollection, this was never stated by MTU. It is the opinion of the poster and that is fine. Let's stop this here. No need to carry it further. |

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
No MTU did not say it in this thread. That was MTU's recommendation and was posted in the requirements page though back when Vista was new. That is all I was saying. I agree we will stop this and I am closing this thread now.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
Yes, 4.22 works virtually bug free. Thank all of you at MTU for taking the time to fix the problems. I waited for several weeks before upgrading to 4.22 from 4.0. I was getting shut downs as many other users were. I can only speak for myself, it's good! I ran other programs in the back ground to put it to the test and no shut downs. Bryan and Dale have been very responsive and I applaud them both.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster
I just loaded 4.22 last night- and after loading a few new zips and noticing the change in file handling, I may go back to 4.1 or even 3.321. I really don't want my files to be a mixture of kma, kmh, and zip in a myriad of locations.

![]() ![]() If your complaint is not having all files in one folder, if you read the manual on the KMA and KMH importing, you should find we have built in a lot of flexibility to meet everyone's needs. You can have any folder/sub-folder structure you want; all on one drive or from multiple drives if you so desire. The KMH format adds the same 256-byte header as we do in our KMA. However, instead of "wrapping" your ZIP or MP3+G or WM+G files into the KMA structure, we instantly add the header into the same folder where your ZIP, MP3G and WMAG files are, and we create these and index them in the Songs database at around 6/second, compared to MUCH longer for KMA files. Also, you don't duplicate the file space with KMH. We simply use the same files you have, and allow your other programs (DJ, etc.) to also use them; something not possible with conversion to KMA. 4.22 also now indexes Video files, which if we converted to KMA would take 40MB-100MB depending on the file type and size. When we earlier converted Videos to KMA files, it took 12 seconds to open each file ready to play. Whereas with the KMH header added to the same folder, it takes milliseconds to open each ready to play. That was the driving force for the KMH format. Using it with ZIP, MP3G and WMAG was a natural fallout to save hard drive space. It also quickly indexes your library of songs so you could run your first show within hours of installing Hoster with your karaoke songs already on a hard drive. In closing, please read the manual and reconsider the benefits the KMH 'header" format gives you. Again, you can rearrange your files into folders/sub-folders you want. The Import Hard Drive Files screen automatically adds any new import folders (and sub-folders if the checkbox is clicked) to the Build Songs Database dialog "window", so you know all the folders you are accessing in the Songs database. ![]() |

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster - FIXED in V4.22
Reset to 0.0 from -.01 and looks OK thus far, with no out of sync issues. I had a couple of dropouts on the first upgrade that threw the sync out for a couple of songs, on the first show I tried it with, but have not been able to duplicate the problem, since last week... Good Work!

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster - FIXED in V4.22
I'm having two parties this weekend so this will be my first real test of the sync in 4.22. So far, it looks like there are no problems with the lyrics. I'll report after the weekend........

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster - FIXED in V4.22
I'm not certain if there is a W7 reason for this or a 4.22 one or what.
Last night I had everything hooked up and started up the Macbook to run through a few songs. I forgot to turn both the singers monitor and the tv on beforehand. I'm using an un-powered Y splitter to the two monitors and have done so before with no problems. So when I turned on the TV and the monitor, I could only get the secondary display on the TV screen. Eventually I got it back on- by rebooting into MacOS and opening up a Mac-based karaoke package and then setting both the TV and the singers display at 1280x1024 resolution. So I reboot into W7 and, after much cajoling, get both monitors functioning. Now comes the strange stuff. I can drag the lyrics window to the secondary monitor and resize it by dragging the corners and it stays put. If I drag it over and double-click it to fill the screen, the laptop screen goes to solid blue and the secondary screens go solid black. Double click again and it comes back, with Hoster control screen on the laptop and the lyrics window on the secondary screens. Weird. Since that way is functional, I can live with it. But the other weird thing is the "Mini-Me" window that shows the lyrics screen in the Hoster main control window doesn't refresh. It just piles the lyrics screens on top of each other continually throughout the songs- it's pretty much unreadable. So once the weekend of parties is over I'm going to start experimenting with settings, etc again. |

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster - FIXED in V4.22
Deeter, this is hard to say where the problem is. Is it the Mac o/s or W7 or a combination of both? If you do that again without turning on the monitor try right clicking on a blank area and go to properties, etc. You know how to do that. In other words if you turn on the laptop without having the monitor on before then it turns off the monitor output.
Instead of dragging the secondary to the monitor try double clicking on it on the laptop screen and see if it will jump over to the monitor that way.
