Crazy Import Problem

First off; been a long time user of Hoster. Little history may stave off extra questions. When I first started karaoke I bought my original discs and then compiled them using using MicroStudio. I was hosting using a SONY 400 carousel CD player and wanted to get as many songs on one disc that I could. My discs and songs were numbered ie. disc 1 was 1 and disc 2 was 2 etc. Disc one might have had 25 songs on it and disc 2 only 15. Depending on length.

Just before I reach that 400th disc MTU came out with Hoster. (Thank God) To keep from changing my system I have since continued with the same numbering system. I would just check the box *Custom Assembly and discID: 400. and keep going.

I know it's a lot more work but old habits are hard to break. Today I reached #554. Put the import information in copied and pasted my 18 songs. (15 from one Chartbuster disc and 3 more from the next one.) Why 18? who knows. Any how, everything worked fine as always; UNTIL I put in *Custom Assembly DiscID #555. I copied and pasted my information and when I hit Import, it said that ID555 was a "Brand Legends ID and did I want to use that? I said no. Hoster wouldn't let me use DiscID 555 for a Custom Assembly disc.

Bottom line: after all these years of using my system what's happen? My laptop was not connected to the internet either. Has the latest upgrade of Hoster change my way of doing things?

Sorry for the length of the post but wanted to give as much info as I could.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

One other thing. My DiscID AND my BookID Root have always been the same number. Everything has gone like clock work until #555???

Re: Crazy Import Problem

No but what it is telling you is DiskID 555 has been used by Legends. This information is coming from the Bucket which MTU has been updating for the past several months with our (users) inputs.
I am going to look into this. I have to download the release version and install it first (I have only the Beta on my home computers). Is it a Legends or Legends Series or Legends Baseline ID?

Re: Crazy Import Problem

It says legends Dale. But I have NEVER imported anything but Custom Assembly. In fact when I put the compiled disc into my laptop; type in 555, 18 songs come up by various artists; some labeled as unknown and some of these songs I don't even have. Yes it is very confusing. And as I said, The laptop wasn't even on line.

Appreciate any thing you find as always!

Re: Crazy Import Problem

The Bucket is not your Songs Database. It is the internal (on your computer) database put together by MTU that is used to lookup the disks if you do not select the online search.
I did find it in the list, along with several others showing only a number. As well as other forms. I will pass this on to Admin to have them look into this.
However, you should be able to tell it no and then go on and enter the correct information and import.

Agree! I can't remember; If I delete the songs data base AND the bucket, and then have Hoster rebuild; would this work?

Re: Crazy Import Problem

That looks like your play list you saved in the past, In Hoster go to file, then Open each Playlist with the numbers you posted, they should open into the Hoster Play List.

Hope everything works out with your numbering system, there should be a way to bypass this problem it also happen to me and couldn't import until I entered an additional letter, created a new disc manufacturer.

Once imported I edited the Manufacturer in Hoster "Song Edit" Menu Multi Track Option.

Good Luck

Joe....

No rebuilding your songs database will not fix anything.
DO NOT DELETE the Bucket database. This has nothing to do with what is in your Hoster. It is a file installed with Hoster and deleting will cause errors in your import screens. There is nothing you can do to remove the "conflict" for this. However as I said you should be able to tell it to not use the legends ID and go on and enter your song information and import. Custom Assembly items are not reported to MTU and will not be added to future Bucket database updates.
The .HST files are playlists that either were saved by Hoster or by you. Again they have nothing to do with importing.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

I can confirm that this is happening. I just tried importing a random disc with the Custom assembly Brand and chose 555 as the disc ID, A load of songs are listed after clicking "search local database" which you can edit alright but on clicking "Import" the legend message comes up with a yes or no answer, if you press no then you are back where you started.

A custom assembly Data must have got into the Bucket database and will have to be cleared by MTU staff as it is not available to edit by others.

Perhaps Dale will pass this on to support.

Further investigation, if you enter "*CustomAssembly* and click on the disk ID box there is a list of IDs there that have nothing to do with things I've imported so surely this should be a blank list except for people who have CustomAssembly* imports.

Roy.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm sure MTU will get to the bottom of it.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

After thinking about it a bit longer I realize it is the Legends data that is wrong. If you use import legends, then disk id 555 is in that list but it should be lg555 or Lg-555 then it would not interfere with any other #555.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

Have already sent email to Admin. This is not a problem for support, but for another staff member to work on.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

Sure and that depends on whether they decide to change the Legends IDs or not.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

UPDATE:

I know MTU will get it fixed but Custom Assembly #559 won't work either. It's assigned to a Sound Choice disc.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

This is what happens when you try to use your own custom systems instead of the normal ones. The custom ones I have always done is to use my initials as the first two letters and then my numbering. However I don't do that many custom. I use the disks as they are from the producers.

Re: Crazy Import Problem

On the contrary Dale, 1,..2..3..4..etc is something I've been using since pre-school. And I promise you it ain't "custom"; I didn't even come up with it; and it's pretty well worked until "555".

Seriously, I understand what your saying, it's just that having the ID and root # the same, has worked great for me. 90% of my songs are all Sound Choice or Charbuster. And I do not keep any duplicates.

Really all I need is for MTU to give me a (pardon the pun) an "empty bucket."

Again to you Dale and everyone else, thanks for the help. It'll all get straightened out eventually.

Kelly
