Also, check the Microsoft Custom Updates and do those too. MTU upgraded their compiler program and now use the latest WMP and DirectX. WHich means we also have to upgrade to those.
i read the requirements for Hoster to run right, i didnt think that i needed to change ( updates) wmp & directx since i'm still running xp and never had audio/ out of sync problems, i thought those changes are only for vista and w7.( read change requirements # 4 )but anyway all is good.

The WMP no would not have changed except for maybe some fix up dates by them. XP cannot run any higher than WMP 11. The DirectX is another thing and can be upgraded. I have never had any problem with needing any offset. The Beta Testers using Vista and Windows 7 all set theirs back to 0.0 and had no sync problems at all any more. Yours could be because of using SP2 instead of SP3 (I know you can't load it without crashing). As long as it is steady and -4 works for you that is ok.
The others though should try setting it to 0.0 and try it.

You would have thought that someone would have posted what the latest version of Windows Media Player is? Where to find their version numbers. And what a DirectX is?, and where you find the latest version of that as well. Here's a thought, believe it or not, some people using hoster just might not know this info. I myself am not sure about the DirectX thing. Never had to even give either thing a thought before...i dunno

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Fellas,

Thanks a lot for all the information. I went to Microsoft and downloaded the lastest version, but beyond that, I'm leaving things as they are for tonight because I have a show. I will try these "fixes" after tonight...

I've been running Hoster in the auto mode for over an hour now and no studders so far.

I will post whatever happens tonight after the show (good or bad)...

The way you find the latest (WMP, DirectX and more) is to go to Microsofts Update web page (link in your Start Menu) and do the Custom updates. The same way MTU has always said to do it in the instructions for setting up Hoster. This should be done everytime you upgrade Hoster.
DirectX is an Audio Control package part of Windows. The Custom updates will tell you if there is a newer version that you need to install.
For WMP basically it is version 11 for XP as the highest, and version 12 for Vista and Windows 7. This does not mean there haven't been any fixes or updates to any of those versions which is why you need to check too.

I have, and i do...I updated hoster last according to admin, almost 10 months ago. I Haven't done any updates, or upgrades since then. My show computer has been online a total of 6 times since i purchased it.That's exactly why i asked.I had no idea what needed to be done.... You can't assume everyone knows this info, i for one...didn't. No idea what a "BrandX" or whatever it is was. Thanks for the info...

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Musicman,

Very eloquently put! I am a well versed computer person for an old man, but this is above my basic knowledge. However, I have no problem following instructions written so I can understand them...

Thanks guys for all the postings, but always remember to use the KISS model when writing instructions...

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Well, I have nothing to Post about my show tonight because it was cancelled at the last minute.

However, before I shut my show computer down to go, I had it running in the "auto" mode checking for "studders." It did it one time after about an hour of continous running.

Also, I loaded six songs from a Disc while it was playing and it "studdered" one time while loading the fifth song. Although it never played a song, I had BA "on" the whole time...

I will now do the other downloads recommended earlier, because I'm presently through until Thursday...
