Singers Database Hang-up

When I open up the Singers Database, Songs, it hangs up and I have to click on the singers name several times to get it to open. I doesn't make any difference if someone is singing or not. It does it every time. I run Windows XP on a laptop and verison 4.20. Everything else works great. Any ideas?

Jim

Re: Singers Database Hang-up

Is it hanging up or just taking a long time open? If you have a lot of songs listed for singers it will take more time for it to open up.
When was the last time you defragmented the drive, cleaned out the temp files and/or cleaned up the system?

Re: Singers Database Hang-up

At first it hangs up, then after a few clicks of the mouse (or the enter button) the screen turns gray and loads. I don't have that many songs in there, about 100 at the most. I keep my songs in it but find it quicker to enter the book ID.
I do keep my computer cleaned up and running good. It's not a big deal, I'm just wondering what it could be.

Thanks Dale

Jim

Re: Singers Database Hang-up

Yeah about 100 will do it. Try it (not during a show) and let it go for a while to see if it opens without the extra mouse clicks.
Also I would suggest a way around that would to be to slide it down out of the way rather than close it or minimize it. That way you don't have to wait for it to open each time.

Re: Singers Database Hang-up

Doug. Thanks for all your help with getting the new songs into my system. now I am experiencing a similar problem with my singer data base messing me up. I never had a problem prior to upgrading to 4.22. I have only added about 4 songs to the singers data base since i have added songs to the hard drive. takes about 55 seconds to open the singers data base and it freezes the the lyrics, not the sound, during a show. also it takes a long time to open hoster. also about a minute.
I need some help form you. I added some songs. in doing all the moving of songs around to get them to work it added some of them 4 and 5 times.. i have converted all the songs to kmh(kma?) me being thrifty thought it would be much quicker to delete the files from the hard drive first then remove them from hoster.. now i really have things screwed up. can you help?
Carl

Re: Singers Database Hang-up

If you already deleted the duplicate files then just Rebuild the database and that should eliminate them. In the future always delete songs from the Edit Songs. This will detele the KMH header or KMA file and remove the information from the database.
As far as taking Hoster taking a minute to open this would not be unusual considering how much has been added to the program.
With the Singer's database if this is happening then I would suggest doing what I told Jimski51 above to open it and leave it open that way you don't get song interuption as it is opening. Don't minimize it but slide it down to where you can see the top of it to be able to grab it and drag it up to use.
