Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

The Canadian law isn't passed yet. By the time is goes through the House and Senate with all the inevitable tinkering it may be as vague as the current law. I hope not.
I am led to understand that teh current US law is better and more clear that the current Canadian law. So this new law is much needed. (BTW the last attempt to update the Canadian law a few years back never made it through the House and Senate. This one is supposed to be more palatable to the opposition parties.)

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

billyo,
It's a good thing that you have the business that you purchased the songs from to verify your purchases, but what if they close down? You may have printed receipts but this doesn't prove the file downloaded didn't come from a pirate. You may have credit card statements but they don't itemize what songs that you purchased and cannot verify what you downloaded was not pirated music. Anyway you look at it, the songs you download cannot be verified, period. Since you're spending the dollars, why not just buy CDG's online so you have physical proof of the purchase along with the receipts?

Steve

i dont buy cdg's on line, i'd rather have the original disc, i only buy music on itunes, that way i just get the new releases and i dont have to buy the whole cd where you can only play 1 or 2 songs out of it.and i don't think they will carry pirated songs,

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

One thing about having the original CDG is if you were to decide to pack it all in, you can sell your collection legitimately and get a reasonable return, I don't think you can do that with downloaded tracks and be legal.

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

Ginamon,

Thanks for the Web Site information (Tricerasoft). I went there and downloaded an mp3+g song I need for tomorrow night. Very good and very easy...

I previously downloaded some songs from The Karaoke Channel (beautiful graphics) and they are in WMV format.

Does any one know how to get them into Hoster?

I have to load them through the Video button and cannot save them in a Singers file...

You import them through the Import from Hard Drive.

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

Dale,

I tried all nine buttons on the Import Hard Drive Files screen and none of them will let me import the WMV files that I have in a folder on my desktop...

Where do I go from here?

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

From the import hard drive files use the Kmh video tab, from the window that opens navigate to your folder with the video's in, at the bottom where it reads "File Types" click the drop down arrow and select all Files. You should then see your videos listed, now press select. The next part depends on the naming order of your files to be set correct then they should import, alternatively select the easy button.

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

Roy,

Thanks a lot! That worked... However, the button reads just "Video" vs. Kmh. But bottom line, IT WORKED! The key to it was selecting "all files." Thank you again...

That's what I love about the MTU forum, the help you can get here! Everyone is so willing to help.

Another question I have is, can you put songs from Hoster on a CD (make a CDG). I love to carry my own songs with me when I go out to sing, in case they're not available or the version I like is not available from the KJ. I hate having to carry a whole CDG for one song...

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

From within Hoster no you cannot burn a CD. You need to use Microstudio which will convert from KMA and burn to a CD.

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

Dale,

Thanks for the response, but I seem to remember something about Microstudio not being compatible with Windows 7. Am I correct?

Only the 64 bit version. If that is what you have then you will have to wait until MTU figures it out and fixes it. They have been working on it.

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

Burning CDGs from Microstudio is great, but taking them to a pub to sing from can be iffy as they look like bootlegs. Best to talk to the host and explain what you are doing before just handing in the disk with your song slip.

I have a Dell Studio 17 running Window 7 (64 bit). Will my laptop work with Hoster?

Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

The basic answer is yes. Hoster does not have a problem with Windows 7 64 bit as long as you use 4.21 which fixed some code errors that were causing it to stop.
From what I saw at Dell if you got the one set up for multi-media you should have no problems.

This laptop has the i7 CPU with 8GB RAM, 1 TB 7200 HDD, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB. It's such a improvement over my 9 year old Inspiron 8100.

Sounds like a super machine Steve. Don't forget to do the changes needed to run Hoster before you install it.

Exclamation Re: Downloadable Karaoke Songs

Karaoke Warehouse is a US Company based in Ohio that has been selling CDGs for many years. I see now that they are offering mp3+g downloads ............ so I am wondering if this is now legal in the U.S. (or at least they must think it is, even though it does take you to a different site.) I just purchased one & it plays just fine in Hoster.

P.S. I think I just answered my own question - I just read their Disclaimer: you "MAY NOT use the materials for any commercial purpose, or for any public display (commercial or non-commercial)".
