Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster

I hope everyone is having a fun filled, safe memorial week~end. Lets remember our great vets, who gave so much for us. Now, please excuse the double post. But to address your concerns Ed. I personally prefer a, as you refer to them "momma-pappa" kind of operation. Not that mtu is actually. Mtu is the leader in karaoke hosting software, also in karaoke production software...period! They can't please everyone. I've been in the music/entertainment industry for 40 years. Longer then some of these kids, who are suppose to be pro's, have been alive. Patience is the key. I like personal customer service. MTU wrote the book on customer service. Name me a company who will sit down, and hook up to your show computer to analize your problem?

I to, am not pleased with a couple of mtu choices. For instance, bring out an upgrade to hoster, when Microstudio is not fully fuctional on 64 bit. But Hoster is mtu's bread and butter, Microstudio isn't. So here i sit patiently, with a 32 bit PC that is 6+ years old, gone through 3 writters, in order to make back up's. You will not find another presentation software firm, any better then mtu..believe me. You will get it all straightened out. Again...patience.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster

from what i read on Ed's latest post, that there was a "bug fix" for this problems, and he wouldn't download it till he( hears) or knows that everyone who have his problems got theirs' fixed, and for you Ed, how about trying to download it, you'll never know , it might work, ( just a suggestion )

I downloaded it last night and noticed that my lyrics were out of sync as well, used to have it at a -5 and now with the upgrade I had to move it to -8

Those who are having to use so much offset try using DXdiag and lower the acceleration for your audio. That may bring them back closer together.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster

I don't know if this will help anyone, but a few posts up I saw someone mentioning that they were thinking of buying a new comp and wanted one that didn't have known problems, so I thought I would throw this in...

I bought Hoster 4.20 a couple months ago and a new HP G61 Laptop from Wal-Mart, it has Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600, 3GB RAM, 1.64GB available physical memory, AMD Sempron M120, 2100 Mhz, 1 Core, I logical processor, My video card is AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200, and my soundcard is a ATI High Def Audio Device...

Sorry if I didn't provide enough (or too much) info, but since I have been using Hoster my laptop has not crashed once, with the old program I used it would crash 3-5 times a night, and not save the singers list... The only thing I noticed is that once I started using a DI box from my laptop to my soundboard that I had to use the lyric sync function, before that I didn't have to use it at all... The only other problem I have is that at my last show the music cut out for a few seconds, it only happened 3 times during my show. Since then I have made sure I made all the changes, defraged and got the new update so, fingers crossed for Friday...

Anywho, hope that was helpful for someone...
Jess

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster

thanks for the info. i would be interseted to know how the 4.21 revision works out for you on your next show. i have had some audio drop outs as well as crashes with 4.20 but wanted to see if other users are okay with 4.21 as a fix. as far as sound is concerned i am wondering if ithe drop out problem is with the x-fi-go usb sound card, windows 7 or hoster 4.20. i am trying different deductions to figure it out. ill keep the posts up as i go along.

1. Click the Start button.

2. Click Run.

3. Type dxdiag in the field and press the Enter key.

4. Select the Sound Tab to see its "screen".

5. You will see a Hardware Sound Acceleration Level: slider. If it is at "Full", you may have better results with it at "No" or "Basic" settings (slide it to the left for these). Select "No Acceleration", close Dxdiag, and run Hoster to see if things are more stable. If not, do the same steps and try "Basic Acceleration".

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster - FIXED in V4.22

I'm not certain if there is a W7 reason for this or a 4.22 one or what.
Last night I had everything hooked up and started up the Macbook to run through a few songs. I forgot to turn both the singers monitor and the tv on beforehand. I'm using an un-powered Y splitter to the two monitors and have done so before with no problems. So when I turned on the TV and the monitor, I could only get the secondary display on the TV screen. Eventually I got it back on- by rebooting into MacOS and opening up a Mac-based karaoke package and then setting both the TV and the singers display at 1280x1024 resolution. So I reboot into W7 and, after much cajoling, get both monitors functioning. Now comes the strange stuff.
I can drag the lyrics window to the secondary monitor and resize it by dragging the corners and it stays put. If I drag it over and double-click it to fill the screen, the laptop screen goes to solid blue and the secondary screens go solid black. Double click again and it comes back, with Hoster control screen on the laptop and the lyrics window on the secondary screens. Weird.
Since that way is functional, I can live with it. But the other weird thing is the "Mini-Me" window that shows the lyrics screen in the Hoster main control window doesn't refresh. It just piles the lyrics screens on top of each other continually throughout the songs- it's pretty much unreadable.
So once the weekend of parties is over I'm going to start experimenting with settings, etc again.

Re: Hoster 4.2 and windows 7 disaster - FIXED in V4.22

Deeter, this is hard to say where the problem is. Is it the Mac o/s or W7 or a combination of both? If you do that again without turning on the monitor try right clicking on a blank area and go to properties, etc. You know how to do that. In other words if you turn on the laptop without having the monitor on before then it turns off the monitor output.
Instead of dragging the secondary to the monitor try double clicking on it on the laptop screen and see if it will jump over to the monitor that way.
