Hoster 420 Lyrics out of sync & Just runs slow

I have Hoster 4.20 my lyrics are out of sync my settings are a -1 max setting still off by a little bit.. also If I seach for song when a songs playing it stops the lyrucs and sometines the music as well.. Ripping cdg's is very slow as well and it takes a couple minutes to open hoster..
I have a pc with XP PRO 2.4 dual pross. with 3 hard drives and 4 GB ram just increased it and that did not help. I also reset the default sttings.. I never had any issues till jumping up to 4.20..

Have you got visualization enabled ? if so try it with this feature turned off.
You say you have 3 hard drives, is this including your C:\ drive, or as well as ?
Have you done all the custom updates not just the Microsoft recommended ones ?

Is there any other programs running at the same time perhaps in the background ?

Another thing you can try is to untick the box in tools options for include the songs data base.

Thanks for the help.. Yes I have all the latest updates except mida player I only have 10 not 11 I have DJPOWER on here for my other show where I do music videos they say it won't work with media player 11. yes 3 drives C for programs d for music flies E for video & kma's .. How do i undo the visulation?

Visualization is only used for music (not karaoke songs) and is set in Media player. So if you do not have it set in there then you don't have it on.

Turning off the Songs Database is only for Importing and Editing and does not affect Search or Playing.

Laptop or desktop computer?

How big is your C: drive and how much free space is on it?

When was the last time you defragmented all the drives?

One thing would be to try lowering the acceleration on your video card, but first let's look at these other things first, before trying this.
Another would be to try a good System clean up program , like System Mechanic.

My C drive is partitioned C/G widows is on the c drive everthing else is on the G drive side.. it's a 40 gb drive 2 gb on the c 38 on the G.. Yes I have defraged and eorroe check all my drives only hoster is giving me trouble and it all started with 420.. I have never had to change the settings on the lyrics ever.. after you type a artist or tiltle in the search window and hit search the lyric stop and the music skips too I have to search during the instrumental parts of the song so it won't effect the singers.. this sucks! Ihave update the drivers for my video card as well..

I understand the problem , but the root of it is going to be computer related.
What version did you upgrade from?

You should have all your programs on C: not on G:drive. Just because you divided the physical drive putting the programs on G: is not the same as putting them on C:.
Two GB is absolute minimum for Windows when you first load it, but Windows has a bad habit of growing, like when you do all the updates from Microsoft every one of them is added to the C: drive.
Hoster also uses a part of it with C:/MTU to store program items and this is not changable.
Additionally your C: drive has all of the Documents and Settings which includes temp files, cookies, temp internet files, etc.
And last C: drive is the default for your Pagefile, used for swapping video and program information. So you see there is a lot on the C: drive that you cannot change and has a tendancy to build up over time.
My guess is that your C: drive is pretty full. Ideally your C: drive should have from 50 - 25% free space for Windows and programs to operate at optimal speed.

I agree with Dale your C partition is too small with only2 GB. Is it a Sony computer? as they used to split their drives like that. If it is I don't know if you can alter that, best wait and see if anyone else knows, else search the computer manufacturers site for advise.
If it is the way you set it yourself then I would advise increasing that partition.
All the 4.xxx versions of Hoster need a lot more resources than the version 3.xxx.

i too agree with Dale, and also you have to have at least 25% of free space in order for you to defrag. your c:drive

Hi Guys,
Ok Replaced my C drive with an 80gb disc and its not partitioned so it,s all for the C drive. Fresh load on XP and all updates in ..fresh install of hoster 4.20. Hoster loads nicely now ..BUT .. my lyrics at max setting of -1.0 are so close to be on time but I still get glitches in the music & lyric when you search or add a song to the play list .. But I did see some improvement but still not right .. any help would be very welcome and thanks again ..

Part of the problem is that on a laptop you have shared memory for the video card instead of dedicated memory. This has been a cause of most of the laptop problems but there is nothing you can do about that. A lot of people open the Singer's Database and Search before starting a show and either minimizing them or sliding them down out of the way of the main screen. This keeps them from having to load information from the database each time you open them.
One thing you can do to help is go to http://www.blackviper.com/ and follow their directions to turn off as many background services and programs as you can. This cuts down on the memory use by XP and should increase your speed a bit.

Hi Dale..
This is a pc not a lap top I just went to the try this first page and made all the adjustment for xp .. Big difference still get little glitch on search and a very minor bump in the music now .. but I am able to lower the stting on my lyric to -.1 from -1.0 happy about that..

If it is a PC then how much Ram does your video card have. Should be at least 256 but 512 would be better.
How many songs do you have in Hoster? That can be a factor too. The bigger the database, the more memory and time it takes to load it in search. As I suggested you might want to open it at the start and leave it open for the whole time to help keep the glitch from happening.

Just to add one thing in case you missed it, did you check your virtual memory settings as shown in the manual under "Initial Setup" ?

Have you checked to see if the out of sync may be a hardware accelleration problem? Possible the problem is beyond Hoster's adjustment ability to deal with it.

type in DXDIAG

after everything opens click on SOUND 1 tab

About midway down the page there's a slider. It's probably all the way to the right, that's usually the default.

Move it two notches to the left and exit.

That may not solve the problem, but is in the realm of possibility.

How much RAM is in your PC?

I have 4gb of ram just added it last week. New C drive and fresh installs of Xp & updated & drivers.. with the lyrics stting at 0 the first song plays in sync. after that ther out and if I go to the max setting all are ok so far.. but if you search it slow them down. if you add a song it interups the lyrics and the music .. I have about 100,000 songs on my E drive..

No wonder search interrupts the playing song. With that many song files for search to read through it takes a lot of processor time to do and when it is doing that it has to take time from some where.
As far as the sync, George may be right as we have gone through just about everything else possible.

It might help if when searching for a karaoke song you first un highlight the Audio & video tabs in the search window. This will lesson the size of the data base to search if you have substantial files in these folders.
