Are you seeing the Windows background on the second monitor, or just a blank screen?
If the monitor is going into sleep mode this is a control setting on that monitor that you should be able to turn off.
If you are seeing the Windows desktop background then start a song and double click on the lyrics display to send it to the second monitor.

You have set the computer for two monitors and using extended desktop I hope.
If so and those settings are still correct and you have tried 4 different cables I would suggest you have the monitor checked out?

Ditto.

Another possible but rare cause is the video out on your computer may have failed; bad connector, broken printed circuit trace, failed logic chips, etc.

Yes, that has happened to me at a gig once, had the backup laptop right next to it, though.

i'm not sure if this would help, how about changing the resolution of your pc/laptop..cant tell you what setting , but you might wanna play around with it..that happened to me when i had to re-install my os and all the utilities and drivers..
