Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

I un-indexed C: and Hoster skipped on the second song. I went to program manager and saw that Windows Search Indexer and Search Filter Host were running processes. I restarted the computer and Hoster skipped on the third song. Task Manager shows Search Indexer and Filter Host are still running processes. I am hesitant to end them...

Windows checked for an updated ATI Audio Device driver and an IDT Audio CODEC updated driver and, according to Windows, I have the latest drivers.

The computer is an HP, Win7 Home Premium, AMD Turion II 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM.

In Norton, PC Tuneup is off, Smart Firewall is off, Antivirus Auto-Protect is off, and Silent Mode is turned on for 1 day.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

I also went to HP's website for my Compaq Presario and updated all my drivers, some 13 of them. It was free. I thought being refurbished they were, guess not. Oh funny thing Roy, they put the same audio driver back in. Go figure...As long as I keep the searches as admin suggested my gigs run smooth...

Try what Jonpyle did, take no notice that windows said the drivers were upto date, go to the HP website and check there or the Realtek site.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

Done... didn't work! I got the most recent driver and Hoster did run longer without burping but after about 40 minutes it stopped for a few seconds in the middle of a song. What a pain!

Something else I did was disable the Windows Search Indexing for both the C: drive and the backup D: drive partition.

I'm still looking for a solution... Thanks for any additional help!

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

Have you tried reloading Hoster, not just updating it?... Sure all your reconfigurations are correct?...Built in Microphone off?...Jesss, I've been where your at, sucks...Have you tried getting System Mechanic? I used that on my system, not sure if it helped, or if it was a combo of things.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

Hi Jon,

Let's see... 1) This is a new (used) computer so I removed all the old junk/data/programs from it and installed the newest Hoster so the install is new; not an update. 2) I've disabled all firewall, anti-virus, and anything having to do with Norton 360 software. 3) I disabled Windows Indexing Service for C: and D:. 4) Defragmentation is 0%. 5) I updated graphic and sound drivers (ATI and IDT). 6) I checked for Windows updates - all up to date.

I'm sure there are more... I read through this thread multiple times and I think the only thing I haven't tried is System Mechanic but HP has a built in maintenance program that diagnoses the system, looks for updates, and applies changes as required.

I'm going to keep working the problem for awhile before I resort to MTU support. I just apologize to audiences ahead of time... Fortunately most audiences enjoy the way we put on a show so there isn't too much flack .

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

The new Hoster install may have loaded wrong, happens. I'd reload it one more time, can't hurt.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

I just uninstalled and reinstalled... Hoster burped on the second song. At shows recently we've been able to run the sync slider back and get on track but this time it burped too long for the slider adjustment. I just started another song and am watching the Processes under Windows Task Manager. System Idle Process is running 92-98. I'm not online; network adapter is disabled. My DJ program is not running. Hoster is the only program running. Just started the second song... no burp yet. Darn it! It just burped - 4th song - and I wasn't fast enough to see what process was running!!! I'm going to keep trying...

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

i would reformat the hard drive and put a fresh copy of windows on it. then update all the drivers from their own website.

im sure if you do this you wont have any problems.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

I am having the same problems with skipping & going out-of-sync and have had for some time. It happens every night. I have tried everything posted on this thread to no avail. I thought it was the fact that I was running BA. Tried turning it on & off with the same results. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING. I've gone through the recommended updates and changes. I'm getting a lot of looks from my clientele and they aren't smiles. I truly hope this problem gets resolved soon. I love Hoster and don't want to leave!

Have you tried running a show without turning on the BA at all? Turning it on and off is not going to prevent it from creating the problem. Also make sure you don't use the visualization either as that is a memory and processor hog.
Also, along with the rest who have posted about having this problem beginning to happen, realize that Microsoft has never created an operating system that cleans up after itself. Beavis suggests to reformat and reload. That works but is drastic. I suggest using a clean up program such as System Mechanic or CCleaner to get rid of junk files, clean up and compact your registry, defragment your hard drive.
Additionally make sure you keep your hardware drivers up to date from the manufacturers and not from Microsoft as they don't always send the correct driver.

I know you say you tried everything in this thread but the one thing that helped Jonpyle was his audio driver update as shown in post #55 of this thread. Now if you search for the updated driver using the windows update driver button from properties it most likely tell you they are up to date. The latest driver for Realtech high definition audio for Vista and Windows 7 on the Realtech site is dated 2011/12/16 so check this date against your driver. This link describes how to update your drivers via the Realtech site: http://www.driverupdate.net/new_lp/r...structions.php
Ignore the link for the driver update software, just read the instructions for doing it yourself.
You can then decide if you want to try that or rely on one of the paid software driver updaters.

Dale.. I have tried not turning BA on at all and ran CCleaner. No luck. Are you having this problem yourself?

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

For Hoster 5.06, we have spent weeks of time researching this audio drop out/stammer problem.

Whave discovered the following:

1. Some computers have a "Power Monitor" utility that runs at what appears to be "System Level" Priority. This means no application can hold it off. Very arrogant of them, and on what should be an "idle process" at best!

We noticed that when we hear a drop out; the Task Manager Processes Tab shows this program jump to the top at the same time.

2. Just as above, "Google Chrome" also can take control at the highest priority that Hoster can't overcome (currently). If this is running, it too will cause audio dropouts.

We just sent out 5.06 Beta 6 tonight for out Testers to try. I run an XP SP3 with 2GB RAM and a Core 2 Duo, and was dropping audio ALL the time. With Beta 6, I no longer hear the dropouts. The changes we made are a result of 2+ weeks of research, and they seem to be working. We'll soon know as our Betas will be rejoicing with us... or not.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

I am not surprised. The 'idle' process is often the busiest process on my PCs. Fingers crossed that this will solve the problem for most if not all the people having this issue.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

I have the same problem and same spec as this user, id be glad to help check for these bugs/errors.

Video Hoster 5.05

I have a Acer Laptop with windows7 premium, 8 gig ram, over 50% free space on C: and 80% free on d:.

CPU: intel Core I7 Q720 dual core 1.6ghz
Screencard: ATI Mobility Radeon HD5850 1024mb

However this happend when i installed hoster like 2 updated versions ago, so when i saw the last update i hoped it would fix the problem, since rolling back to previous versions isn't my choice of action.

I have checked by deactivating all automatic services like antivirus and all, Still no fix of the problem. The Lyrics gets out of sync when the music studders and people complain about not beeing able to sing right.

I have allso defragged my disk so that is not an issue, i have tried sevral screencard drivers, with no luck, i even tryed another soundcard driver and even an external soundcard to fix this problem but no luck.

So here we are, tell me now what to check....

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

We are beta testing an audio upgrade for this at the moment as stated above by admin, you will have to be a bit patient until it is released but it looks promising.

Re: Hoster Skipping/studdering

I'll throw in another observation here that may be totally unrelated to the discussion-or not.
Since about version 4.11 I have been running Hoster on a Macbook Pro while using Bootcamp with Windows 7 Pro installed. I did all the recommended changes to Windows 7 before using Hoster and, after getting all the video settings worked out, I have never experienced a stutter or audio dropout that I am aware of. Currently, I am running 505.12 and have a party next week so hopefully that will go smoothly as well. I do disable Symantec during use of Hoster and don't have anything else open or intentionally running.
