Need to purchase wireless hand held mic system

that's the reason why i always use 4 mics all the time, 2 wireless ( audio technica )and 2 corded mics ( audix ) , 1 wireless i use and the othe 1 i only give it to the sober ones and the shy ones, and the 2 corded mics are stationary for those who had so much to drink, like you said, the only problem i see in having one controller for both mics, was that if the controller goes out, then both mics goes out too.

The microphone set he is talking about (VocoPro UHF-5800) has only one component that is common to all microphones and that is the power supply. Each mic has a separate receiver in the unit and they can be changed out individually, so there is no chance of losing all 4 at once unless the power goes out.
I have at least 3 of these and have never had a failure yet.

sorry about that, i friend of mine uses vocopro mics( don't know what model ) and i know shes got one receiver that controls both mics , i don't use them, so i thought that what he's talking about..

I have 2 Audio Technica 200 series VHF mics which sound pretty good, and 2 AKG WMS40 UHF wireless which are great. Also have 2 Audio Technica corded which I only use when we have more than 4 singers. The 2 Audio Technica wireless mics are fairly inexpensive, about $100 if I remember correctly, but they use 9 volt batteries, as where the AVG were more expensive and they use 2 AA batteries that last about 30 hours of use. I use rechargeable batteries for the AVG which really save me on battery cost. So you not only have to look at expensive units versus less expensive as far as sound quality and cost, but you also have to determine the cost in the long run. The 2 Audio Technica VHF mics, while they sound great have a higher cost in battery replacement. Another thing to look at is, on the VHF mics, they have 2 long antennas which are somewhat unsightly and will break eventually. I've had to replace both antennas on 1 of the units and 1 on the other. the 2 audio technica i have is $199. ea.and it uses 2 aa bat. it does use a lot of batteries,( in my own doing ) i dont wait for the bat. to go out, i replaced them every show, i buy bat. in packs which cheaper than buying 2 bat. in smal package.. the 2 receivers i have are built in a custom case with my gears, so i dont have to keep plugging and unplugging them, i have a custom case with a built in 3 prong male outlet, so all i have to do after every show was to unplugged the ext. cord that is connected to my case.

Hey Billyo, have you thought about rechargeables? They save alot on cost. MCM Electronics have chargers that come with 4 AA batteries from $16.00 to about $33.00.

i did, but even those chargers will go out sometime, and its easier for me just to put fresh bat. rather than waiting for the bat. to charged
