It Doesn't pay to go cheap, I use Shure and also have Dual gemini for anybody not Responsible, Like Drunks, Kids ect. If you want a descent entry level Mic check out gemini or others but if you want quality check out shure and others of the same quality. Hope this helps a little

I have been using a cheap
Kam KWM 1920 19" Rackmountable Twin VHF Radio Microphones with individual microphone volume control for about a year now, each microphone uses 2 AA batteries which I reckon I can get 3 x 4 hour shows out off. They also do a UHF model slightly dearer. I am well pleased with these myself and I would not want to spend too much when they are mostly used in bars:r:) Roy. |
i have 2 audio technica digital cordless mics, $199.00 ea. and i have no problems with it,

Vocopro UHF-5800
I have a set of vocopro UHF-5800, I have had people drop them quit alot, and they still work great and for around $300 a set for four mic you can't beat them. Only problem with them is if something happens to the unit it self then you have no mics at all. So far I havent had any probs with them.

Wireless Mics
I have 2 Audio Technica 200 series VHF mics which sound pretty good, and 2 AKG WMS40 UHF wireless which are great. Also have 2 Audio Technica corded which I only use when we have more than 4 singers. The 2 Audio Technica wireless mics are fairly inexpensive, about $100 if I remember correctly, but they use 9 volt batteries, as where the AVG were more expensive and they use 2 AA batteries that last about 30 hours of use. I use rechargeable batteries for the AVG which really save me on battery cost. So you not only have to look at expensive units versus less expensive as far as sound quality and cost, but you also have to determine the cost in the long run. The 2 Audio Technica VHF mics, while they sound great have a higher cost in battery replacement. Another thing to look at is, on the VHF mics, they have 2 long antennas which are somewhat unsightly and will break eventually. I've had to replace both antennas on 1 of the units and 1 on the other. Hope this helps.

i did, but even those chargers will go out sometime, and its easier for me just to put fresh bat. rather than waiting for the bat. to charged |

so you take the bat.out of the mics every time you get done with your show and charge them when you get home ? i compliment you on your patience, little things like that i dont have the patience:), when i get done with my show i just opened up the mics and get rid of the bat. i just wanna unload my gears when i get home and hit the sack:g:g |

i haven't notice that, i know that it stays green when the bat. are new and red only when i turned it off, havent seen the green light dimmed ..yet:), i was told by audio technica support that you should always take the bat. out after using it, and you have to put the same pair of bat.back since bat. doesn't discharge/charge at the same rate. |

Wireless Mic
I use a Samson wireless with the Samson Airline module which will turn any mic into a wireless. Plug in a cheap radio shack for the drunk and a better mike for the serious minded karaoke star. The Airline module will make a wired shure, ev, or any mic wireless. Cost about $250.00
