Just to point out the obvious, if you don't own it then you cannot import it legally. It may be a convience for them to have you do this but it is not legal for you to have it on your drive except temporarily during a show.

I heard this use to be a problem with earlier versions. But hoster has always imported singers disc why someone was singing already. Even with me adoing it. At least onest a week i get out my laptop and just use hoster and test everything out like importing singers disc while one is playing. hummm...maybe thats why i keep my laptop and hoster so simple and uncludered...things just seem to run more smoothly.

I agree. Nothing extra on the computer over what is needed to keep Hoster running smoothly. No extra programs installed except for things that assist such as an anti-virus program and a system clean-up program.

it's been a while since i imported a singers disc, i think it was v3.16, it's just last week that i had to, since my regular singer bought a brand new disc, but anyway i also noticed that when importing the disc the music stop for a few sec. then it starts back -up, but anyway i'm not sure if it the problem existed before with the prior version, like i said i dont really import singers disc, but anyway everything is good if i have to import again i'll just wait till the song playing is almost over....not a big deal..

My Hoster screen goes blank when I import a cd but the singers monitor and sound keep going without any problems. This has happened on the last serveral versions of Hoster. Also, I noticed now with 4.11 my internal dvd drive reads cdg's again. Over the last couple of years it would work untill I upgraded a newer version of Hoster then it wouldn't work anymore. Next upgrade it may or may not work, etc. Don't know why, thought is may be a programing issue but what do I know. I wonder if this could be related to what you are describing but probably it's a video memory issue. Just guessing.

my drive's always been working, i had never had a problem with the old version, its just when the 4xxx versions came out, but anyway i did a show last Sat. and i was importing singers disc at the very end of a song playing, i noticed that i was getting a glitched on the singers monitor while importing and reading the disc was so slow, but writing the disc just took a few seconds..

This could be because the singer's disc is either scratched or dirty. This would make the read slower as Hoster trys to correct errors in the read. Take a look at their disc before you put it in the drive. This one reason why I still keep a disc cleaner handy.
You would be surprised at how many people (some DJs and KJs too) do not know how to handle CDs. I have seen people rub them on their shirts or pants to try to clean them or grab the across the data side with their whole hand.

I never had any problems importing a singer disk track in 3.xx and older versions.
I had nothing but problems from day one with 4.xx. Someversions it would throw the lyrics out of sync for the duration of the import. And in some it would slow down the swiping on lyrics for the duration of the imports and in others it would create a nasty audio drop during the import.

After Admin badgered me for quite a while about reloading windows, I did and all of my singer disk import problems went away. All of my singer disk imports are now perfect, and with only 32mb onboard graphics. The only issue I OCCASIONALLY have is an audio drop when I eject the disk so I now wait until the song is finished before ejecting.

I tried installing a 256mb card and started having the problems again so I dumped the card and restored my computer to before then and all is working again.

To summarize: Try reloading windows and do the updates and then re-instal Hoster. It's an all day affair so plan to start early and work late but it may fix things right up.

Sam

Strange but workable I guess. My guess would be not enough video resources (memory) to maintain both screens when importing.
As far as the drives working then not then working again there is no telling, unless the testing is not waiting long enough for the drive to respond. However MTU did include an out for this. In the drive set-up you can force Hoster to accept the drive as good. On the right side you can click the button to tell Hoster the drive is good.
