Thanks Bob,
I downloaded and installed a demo of True Image Home. I'm downloading the Migrate Easy demo now. I'll uninstall True Image and get the Migrate Easy installed in it's place.

Thanks Again

Jim

Been using Norton Ghost 2003 ever since 2003 and have been completely satisfied.

From what I've been seeing lately though, they have become a nightmare to work with. If I ever need to change, Acronis here I come..

The main purpose of this post is to advise anyone doing it, that uninstalling any Norton product, does not do a completle uninstall of the product by a darn sight. There are more files left in the registry than one would imagine.

It's so bad Norton offers Norton removal software...go figure

Peter Norton used to be my hero back in the DOS days. Not so much anymore.

your right jim, its "copy drive" now not clone.

are you using a USB external drive to copy to ?

if so there are some advanced options for USB while your going through the wizard.

I installed the Migrate Easy demo. If I use the automatic clone feature it says I will have to remove the old hard drive when the data moving is complete. Does this means everytime I make a copy of my C:\ drive, I have to run off of the second drive and disconect the first drive? Do I have to go back and forth switching drives eveytime I add new songs and want to do a backup?

I was under the impression that if my hard drive failed all I had to do was restart my computer and the second drive would take over. I don't mind disconnecting a drive and leaving it in the computer for backup but this method will require me to open the computer which I though I could avoid.

After running shows with this computer for over four years now I feel it's time to get a tested, working backup system in place since hard drives do not last forever. I would appreciate it if somebody who uses Migrate Easy would explain the process they use.

Thanks

Jim

from what i read if something happens to you pc you can use the cd and boot up from there, jim on acronis true image they have a step by step on how to restore/create a back-up system for your comp, i have never tried it , since all i do was cloned my drive ,but i clicked on a few steps and kinda easy enough to follow..if i can understand it you wont have a problem doing it.. buy the box version and all the things that you wanted to do is in there, you wont regret it, its like having a sec. blanket you dont have to worry about crashing..

I want to be set up where if my C:\ drive fails at a show I can restart the computer and the second drive will take over. How do I do this with Ghost (or Migrate Easy)?

Jim

hey ken

he wants 2 drives mirrored at all times in case one fails.

hey jim

it seems to me its easier to buy a 500gb drive for under a hundred and replace the original drive once a year.

then use the old drive as a backup. buy a couple of external USB cases for the old hard drives.

the drives they make are pretty reliable today. ive never had one crap out during a show. for that matter never had one go on my karaoke computer.

Hi' Jim,
I used rocket raid. Very easy to use, and cheap.
don't know if they still make them.
You could use a usb drive to boot from.
take a look at this, Bob
