Do you have to be clicking it on an "OK" button or something else or just anywhere on the screen?

Does XP REALLY need all these updates, I thought I heard somewhere on some post from ADMIN that we do not.

I am not sure if XP needs all the updates or not but I rather be safe than sorry. At least with the updates I know that everything will work once everything is all said and done and it will work properly I update my computers once week I check for even the smallest updates because that maybe the one I missed That I needed the manual tells us which updates we need.

Hey Bryant,
I think the reqirements changed when they went back to the old player. This would be about the time admin posted what you are looking for, I think.

I've had SP3, IE7 and WMP11 ever since I started running Hoster 4. Since I am one of the Hoster XP users who has had no problems running 4.0, 4.01, 4.02 4.03 or 4.04 at my shows... the descsion in the end is yours but I have to agree with Fran on this one, updates are the way to go.

Jim

The unnecessary update referred to is for XP - only WMP-9 is required & may work better. It does for me.
WMP-11 is required for Vista.

Sky,
You are correct thay WMP 9 will work for XP users like myself but this does not change the fact that I have used WMP 11 since day one and I am one of the folks who every version of Hoster 4 has worked for.

I agreed with Fran because I remember back in the day when I spent hours downloading a copy of IE4 (dial-up ) from GOD only knows where that had been deleted from my hard drive by an AOL trial I tried. This was a very stable browser but would I use it over IE7? Can't do it, IE7 used technology that wasn't didn't exsist when IE4 was around. We will all have to update sometime. Do it now or do it later but the nature of the beast will keep us updating.

If WMP 9 works best on your system, by all means use it.

With all respect.

Jim

I was only referring to WMP9. Jim, if I remember correctly, you also don't run Videos and use Hoster mostly for playing with your guitar. IE7 is another story. According to the Manual, all updates are required, but XP or requires WMP-9 or higher for XP. It also seems to depend on how old the machine is, as well as other things. My only point was if you are having problems with WMP-11 on XP, then it is OK to use WMP-9 per MTU.

Hey Sky,
Your recall is correct, I do not run videos in my show but I host Karaoke three nights a week and play guitar two nights. (This weekend I'm off, YEA! )

I feel it is wise for all to try WMP 11 first because of my success with the Hoster 4. This is the point I'm trying to get accross.

Thanks for helping!

Jim
