Problems with Hoster 4.04 and Xp
Am I the only the XP users who is having major problems with ver 4.04? I see a lot of vista users who have gone back to 4.03, but haven't noticed much from the XP users.

???
I never had XP until last week. The machine it's on now lost a motherboard. Up to then I was running 2000 Pro. Still haven't been able to really use 4.03 on my XP machine in a show yet though. I went to use it last night & it started rebuilding the database at an extremely slow rate, so I cancelled & went back to 3.4, it was becoming show time - that & the fact my other host is leaving in a couple weeks so I want to train with my new host coming in. I rebuilt the database after the show & it took almost an hour for 14K songs - which it should normally take about 10 minutes or so. So we'll see what happens tonight. |
Also Having Problems!!!

Tried to use a few of the new features and Gremlins started rearing their ugly heads. Added clipart to create logo during intermission screen, and having to tweak the resolution was first noticible problem. Then the lyrics were running slow, and had to restart once in a while to sync. Then the computer would freeze and lock up once in a while when playing the first songs of the show. Added the upgrades as soon as they came along, added more ram to both of my computers, and seemed to be getting better with 4.03. Then 4.04 came out and I have been back and forth to 3.4 a few times when one of these problems arise during show. The one thing that switching back to 3.4 from 4.04 is that I lose any rotation information that is added from the initial starting list, forward. So it shows the initial list, including songs that have already played, and truncates any changes made after the initial list was created. Also with 4.04 some of the code changed for my Nikkodo songs, and the Title block introduction is garbled, as is the background pictures that show intermittently throughout the Nikkodo Sav selections. I'm still using 4.04 but probably will be going back to 4.03 if these reoccurring glitches don't improve with 4.05, or maybe soooooner!:? Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |
The following is a list of problems that I reported to MTU support. Could be more.

Laddie, one thing you might want to try is to keep 2 copies of Hoster open at the same time. (4.04 & 3.04) That seems to work for some people. I know it's a pain, but then you can add Singer's disks & play video MUX from 3.4 and then use 4.04 or 4.03 for the rest of the Show. At least then you won't lose your playlists. Many of us are waiting for the VideoMUX to work, so we have no other choice except to go back to using 3.321 or 3.3x. |

Sorry Laddie. I tried quoting from within a quote to save space....OOOPS:s:t
I hope RIKKI... reads it. |
I'm trying to stay the course with 4.04

Not too concerned with video or video/mux problems, except for my future logo applications that I would like to feature during intermission screen. Will try and stay with 4.04 and pinpoint for the beta testers, and Admin current problems with the XP operating system, so their trials have the benefit of KJ's running the latest upgrade, that will lead to fixes for 4.05. The only drawback is losing the updated singer's rotation when having to switch back to 3.4 after a lock-up, or lyric sync issue. I've got shows on Wed, Fri, and Sat this week and will make a determination on stability of 4.04 after a tweak or two with drivers, and resolutions with settings for high definition T.V.'s that a couple of these venues have changed to for Football season. I'll be back! Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |
Gremlin reared it's ugly head 4.04
:f I had to import some new CDG'S Today when low and behold a Gremlin came and stole my thunder, Screen pulls up fine for import however I had to keep my finger pressed firmly on left click to import all songs and I imported like 400 new ones today my finger is wore out I think I got a callus OMG :e any reason why it would do this other than those nasty little bugs being in there this is a small annoyance compared to VISTA users.Sorry Guys I am have no problems other that this today.
Oh My VISTA NIGHTMARE will be out of the shop tomorrow!!!!!:e |

I have found if I run my shows in manual mode (which I have always done :w) I have no sync problems. MTU has been working on the playlists, this may be a bug. One of the places I work just got HDTV. Just manualy resize the screen to fit the TV. It's no big deal. I can't be more serious about running in manaul mode, I will keep everthing in sync and should work like a champ. Test it and let me know. I hope your gigs go well this week. I'm fixin' to load up and head to the Charley's for Midnight Karaoke. Take Care. Jim |

:) Hey Fran, I imported 7 new CDGs last night and worked great with 4.04. Not sure what could have caused your issue. The only problem I have encountered with 4.04 is that while I was importing I had Microsoft Defender updating at the same time. After the import I tried playing one of the songs and then video stopped for a bit. I then realized that Defender was doing a scan. I stopped the scan and exited Defender and restarted Hoster. I then played the file in question all the way through and it worked fine. My point to all this is that a lot of problems are probably being caused by background programs running.

Never have saved playlist, no need to! Usually set up a few songs from singers playlist db and then shuffle them to rotation order. If I go back to 3.4 from 4.04 the playlist is the original without the changes, and also shows played songs if I'm already into the show. Jim says its a known problem, possibly a bug, so I'll be extra careful with 4.04, playing show in manual mode instead of auto, and see if I can wait out the fix in 4.05. I'll post anything new that occurs, or if show runs smoothly this week! Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

4.04 to 3.40 Truncating Problem!!!
Dale,
Create a playlist from singers database, move songs around to rotation order, play a song.... while it is playing (Auto Mode), add a couple of new songs or singers from singers database, stop song. Open 3.40 and see if the newer songs are not truncated, or left out in that playlist? If you had been in your show for a while when you try to revert back to 3.4, you will probably get those already played songs as well. This is kinda how my last experience with show created the problem. Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

If 3.4 doesn't know you changed the playlist in 4.04, then maybe "saving it" before you open 3.4 will. It doesn't hurt to try:r |
