You should have 4.03 save in your Downloads folder. If you have 4.03 Lite, then you were only able to install on 1 computer.
You can also do a "System Restore" to before you installed 4.04.

Why do you think 4.03 works better than 4.04?

Unless when the option to run or save the download code came up & you hit "RUN" instead of "SAVE", it shouldn't have overwritten the previous download as they are named 2 different files. It will only overwrite if the file name is the same. If you hit "run" instead of save, then it will just run & overwrite the previous version during the upgrade. Always SAVE the downloads!

For me it's pretty simple 4.02 was a nightmare then the old player was put into 4.03 and everything worked again. Now 4.04 takes much longer to load and can't play a karaoke file (any type hdcdg hdmp3 etc.) in full screen.

So if it actually works then that's better to me.

Are you referring to ""(any type hdcdg hdmp3 etc.)" - song you are Adding to the Playlist -or- your "KMA's" that only show on the Playlist as that "type"?

What do you mean by "full screen" ? Do you mean the Singer's Screen that shows up on a second Display, or you can't get a full screen on your monitor?

Type of songs and FUll Screen

These are all my KMA files that I am trying to play on one screen. My laptop is what I use and 98% of the time I use just the laptop no additional screen as I am an entertainer not so much a Host.

If I play a song i.e. Deep in the Heart of Texas by Bing Crosby, the initial lyrics display is a small cropped window in the upper right corner. If I try to make this Full Screen by double clicking or by dragging one corner (either or) the music begins to stutter. With each stutter the audio drops out but the lyrics continue to shade. When the audio comes back in the lyrics are sweeping ahead of the song.
The program will play audio without dropouts. The problem lies somewhere in drawing the lyrics if you will.

Back to Bing, Deep in the Heart of Texas from Legends, this song has a long intro and a long instrumental break.During the intro or the instrumental break with Full screen there are no drop outs it is only when the song attempts to load the new line of lyrics.

I have tried several different songs and none can play straight through with the screen enlarged. But as I stated the drop out occurs with the loading of each lyrics screen to sweep.

Hope I described this well enough and thanks for the input.
Chuck

That is a problem I've never had. In the Tools menu, there is a change that can be made if you are having problems with 4.04. I've also read several posts on the forum with various fixes for audio dropouts as well as something in the Manual about it. I'm afraid that's the best I can do. I'm sure Jim or Dale will read this and be able to give you better advice.

Thanks for taking he time.

Well, I no it's strange but also very disenchanting. I've been using MTU products for several years now and never seen such a mess.I do have a support ticket in and have received a couple responses back but since we were coming up on the weekend I have to be the patient and wait for normal hours to resume. Thanks so much for trying to help.

Only resize the Show Display when a song isn't running in Hoster.

Hey Chuck,
Have you tried Dale's suggestion? Manually resize the show display (without a song playing) to a size that's big enough to read but small enough to reduce the load on the video side of things. If this does not help, use 3.40 or unistall 4.04 and go back to the latest version of Hoster you have that works. 3.40 should work fine.

Be sure your video card driver is updated and you have all windows custom updates.

I hope this helps.

Jim

Hey Jim,

Well first of all 4.03 was a dream come true when the old player was introduced my problems went away. Now 4.04 presented a new problem right out uf the gate. I have been upgrading right along and one of the first solutions a few versions ago was in fact updating my drivers. It was not easy to get them from Acer but I finally broke down and got a program that made all my drivers available to me.

Sorry so long winded but the short answer is yes I have all updates and updated drivers for video, audio you name it.

I can use about one quarter of my screen but that realy doesn't make alot of sense to me. Every code change seems to have a new problem.
I like to go full screen and have the singers display active with 2 lines so I can see the title of the next song in my progam and introduce it.Also very helpful when my wife is on the job so she can see what her next song is etc.

Thanks again for the input

Chuck

Chuck,
I play guitar and used Hoster 4.04 to run my tracks (karaoke) this past Friday and Satuday night with no issues (XP ). I know what you mean about being able to see the Show Display to keep up with the show. When I add a song to my "Guitar" playlist, I enter the Key and Capo information in the singer name column. It's useless if I can't see it.

All of us windows users will have to adjust to Vista, like it or not. Bill's people in their infante wisdom released vista before it was stable. It's still not stable to this date.

Again, go back to 4.03 and you should be okay.

Jim
