Dale,

I had the problem on 2 machines using the Plextor external drive. On the laptop it hid my D drive and the E Plextor. On the office machine, it hid my onboard D and E drive and the F Plextor. The Plextor is working now that I have upgraded the video driver. The Plextor has never been a problem. My office machine is a Dell Dimension 4300 series and the laptop is a Compaq Presario. Both have XP. I have installed/uninstalled Hoster several times on the laptop because I was having problems which later turned out to be video. Everytime I re-installed, something installed the low filter again. Even on the initial download on the Dell, it did the same thing. Don't get me wrong, I have got the program working and intend to purchase it in the next couple of days. Seems to be a very strong program w/lots of great features. I would still be at mile one if it hadn't been for madjim dropping the video driver idea on me.

I had this same problem when I loaded 4.02 demo on to a Friends brand new Hp computer running vista home basic so that he could try the program himself. Hoster started OK and I tried to show him how to load some songs from the CD mainly to check if it would read CD+g files. I only loaded a couple of tracks and they played right. then I tried to load some more and a message came up, can't remember the wording exactly but it could not find the drive. I then went into my computer to see the drives and there was no CD drive. I restarted his computer but still no CD drive showing. Went into Device manager, it showed CD drive but on clicking this it said driver corrupt.
Pressed the send button to Microsoft when the error message came up and it eventually came back message something like no known remedy. Tried Microsoft web site looking for answer, no luck. Well as it was a brand new computer not much been added and did not have Steve Bauer remedy I restored it to it's factory state. I did not try to load Hoster again and my friend has opted for a different program. I use Hoster myself on my XP machine no problems very satisfied. I just wonder if there is a problem in the demo version.

Roy,

Dale (I think a moderator) seems to be pretty knowledgeable and he says that this is not inserting this filter but causing a conflict which results in the filter. No matter, you may want to copy my "fix" text for further reference as it works every time for this problem.

Steve as you pointed out earlier when you install Hoster this returns. It may be something that Windows does when Hoster or any program does when it install them. I don't know but I have been recommending your remedy for this and Microstudio as both have to access the drives. Thanks for finding it.
By the way I am not a moderator here, nor am I am employee of MTU. I am a customer just like the rest with a few years computer experience. And according to the number of posts I have put in here...a big mouth.

Dale,

I appreciate your and Jim's help and support, and Hoster should also because without you I would not be ready to buy this product and the problem for the most part was not on their end. This is a complicated program and everything needs to be right for it to perform.

Forums are only as good as the quality knowledgeable people that respond to people's cries for help!!! Big mouths????? I don't think so! There is nothing more flustrating than a computer gliche that you can't fix on your own or more satisfying than someone you don't know taking the time to take up your problems as their own.

I am just in the door on this program and will be back for advice, keep up the good work, I'll talk with you again!
