I've never noticed what you are expieriencing, but then I do what I wrote in my first answer. I normally stop with each rotation and play a few DJ requests anyway. This is when I load in tracks. I've never loaded more than 2 tracks at any one time. I have loaded at least 10 tracks in one night, two at a time and never had a shut down, of course again I was on a DJ break.

We did extensive study on the audio dropping while importing. It turns out the CD/DVD Drive you are using is causing this problem. We fixed this with 3 customers by their upgrading to the drives MTU sells. Not trying to push our drives, but there is a reason we sell the models we do, and test and reject the failed drives we buy. You need a different DVD drive.

As to importing 3 songs and crashing, that's a different problem we've never heard before. Sounds like a "memory leak" somewhere. We'll solve that one in Hoster 4.00, which we are nearing release on (not tomorrow, but expected within a month).

Thanks for the info. I was not having crash problems with earlier versions, just 3.321. My laptop was bought from MTU.

I have a MTU drive (slimline for laptop) and I'm having an issue also. It doesn't shut down, but just at the end of the writing kma the audio drops out for a moment when it returns the music and lyrics are out of sync.
I'm running XP Home /w SP3, and all custom updates, Hoster 3.317. .Net Framework1. Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K06 I have been unable to find firmware updates for this drive

I believe that after reading the above posts that I am having the same issue. I have all the settings set per the manual, however when someone walks up with their own CDG and I go to load the track, hoster crashes. I have also tried doing this when I am just playing audio and it does the same thing. I am running the current version of hoster and hope that 4.0 is out soon with the issue corrected.

Will this problem be solved in 4.0 initially or in a later release? I personally don't believe in DJ breaks, and would rather tell the customer I'm not capable of playing their CDG's, at least until this problem is fixed!

I just imported nine CD tracks in a row into the playlist while Hoster 3.321 was playing. I even messed with the program trying to move songs on the playlist while it was playing/importing. I could not recreate the "import three CD tracks and 3.321 crashes" bug that is being reported here. Hoster did not crash.

I'm running a Dell Desktop Pent4 3.0GHz with 512 megs of ram using a stock Dell CD (not DVD) burnner.

I hope this helps.

Jim

I believe you need to have at least .net Framework 2. That is why you need to periodically do the Custom updates. It isn't just a one time thing.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is .Net Framework2?

I periodically go through my device manager and right click on each device to update the drivers...I frequently update my virus protection software, frequently run the virus scan, defrag at least once a week and run disk check and windows updates...

Sorry Dale..My last post should have said .Net Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 ....However It seems the issue is fixed. I've loaded 15 or so songs without any drop-outs.
All I did was.. Remove 3.317..Downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Ran Clean Disk & Defrag (which I do frequently)
Installed Hoster 3.321...
Running smooth.....Again I am using a MTU Drive, Maybe just needed a clean install

I have been having this problem for the past 2 years using Hoster from 3.1 to 3.317. It wasn't my Drive, because I could play a Singer's Disk using another program, but could not add it to the Playlist in Hoster. Before I found that other program, I carried a separate CDG Player just for playing Singer's Disks. (I still do)

I attribed my problem to using an old laptop that just wasn't fast enough. But now I have a dual-core with all the bells & whistles & still Hoster crashes when I Add a Song from a Singer's Disk at the same time Hoster is running a Show.

I have never had this problem on either of my laptops. I do use an MTU supplied External burner for adding the cdg's though. I use hoster 3.316 and it also worked fine in earlier versions.

I don't know Sky, Admin makes it pretty clear in this post:
http://forum.mtu.com/showpost.php?p=74216&postcount=14
that the CD/DVD drive you use is very important. I too have used Hoster for years but like hwheele43r, without any import problems.

If I had to buy a different CD/DVD drive to stop carring a CD+G machine, I'd pull out my credit card so fast it would set my pocket on fire. My motto is "Travel Light", carring that extra machine would be a pain to me.

Just Trying To Help

I can't make it break with my laptop that has XP operating. But I have problems with the Vista laptops. My Vista will crash from time to time, but it is more sporatic than every third CD. I have a bigger problem with skips in the song that is playing and the bigger the skip the more the words are out of sync with the music.

I guess I'm going to show my ignorance, if my problem is not having all the custom updates, defragging, and the updates to the disc drivers thing, maybe someone could give me some help with that and see if my problem goes away. thanks, Stu

Have you updated .Net Framework to at least v2 with the latest patches? You should anyway, it fixes many vulnerability issues.

Also here is the link for Pioneer for firmware updates. You might have looked here already.

Smile

In a way that is what I did with the Inspiron 1520. I installed XP sp2 on it and ran the updates. Works fine.
