Adding CDG live at a show

Anyone having problems wit 3.321 when loading cdg while playing a song? Last night I couldn't continue until cdg loaded. Tried it on different computer at home, same thing.:? :?

Thats when I switch to DJ for a couple songs and load the cdg, while playing dj music on my media player. Make sure you have the auto play off on your dvd drive.

Old version worked fine

The old version let me use cdg on the fly without stoping show. Same problem on my other computer. It will only let me copy 3 or so cdgs and then crashes. Did not have that problem with earli:r er version.

If a CDG is being imported and the song that is playing ends first, Hoster has to wait for the CDG to finish importing before it can start playing the next track. Try starting you CDG import at the begining of the track that is playing. In other words, start your present singer then improt the CDG so the import ends before the track that is playing. :w

I Hope This Helps.

I appreciate the suggestions but I didn't have any problems until I installed 3.321. Computer crashes after loading 3 tunes. I would rather have old version, that one had no malfunctions.

I've never experienced or heard of the problem you are you reporting. Let me ask you some questions that may help others, help you.

1. What operating system are you using?

2. Have you custom updated your version of Windows?

3. Are you saying you can unistall 3.321 then reinstall the older version and this problem doesn't happen?

4. What older version are you using?

5. Do you have the latest drivers and firmware for your sound card, video card and CD burner?

Sorry I wasn't more help. :t

Singer's CDG Import Problem

I am seeing this too. After temporarily importing about 3 songs Hoster will error out on the import. Restarting Hoster clears the error, but then you lose any you have previously imported.
Jim is correct that you need to start your import very shortly after a singer starts so it will finish before the singer is through or it will delay your show by preventing you from doing anything until the import is done.

I'm glad someone else saw this. I thought I was going crazy. You think this will be fixed soon? I use this option a lot and hate to keep re-starting the Hoster program after each install. Thanks again!:g

Same Problem

I also have the same problem. I am running Windows Vista and Hoster 3.321. After importing a few cd's throughout the show, I attempt to import another cd by clicking "CDG" then inputting the track number, song title and singer name. When I click "Import" (it doesn't matter if I do it at the beginning of a current song being sung, near the end, or when NO songs are currently being played through Hoster), I get an error message that Hoster has stopped working and is being shut down. I then have to restart Hoster, but lose any cd's I have already temporarily imported - which REALLY sucks if there were some and I don't know it, and then skip a customer. I originally thought it was just some malfunction on my new computer that I only use for karaoke, but now see it isn't!

My solution:

I input all of my singers in order, etc. If there is a singer that wants to use their own cd, I don't actually input it until they are ready to sing. I simply pick a random song from the search and add it with their name. Instead of putting "John" as the singers name, I put "John2*" so that I know that this isn't the song he actually wants to sing. I know that John is singing from his own cd and that I need to import track 2.

Right before he sings, I take a quick break. Shut down Hoster. Restart Hoster, and then import his song. This way, I don't lose my list that is below, and the only time I have to take breaks is when a customer wants to sing their own cd.

I know this isn't the way it is supposed to be done, but this solves the problem somewhat without being too difficult. I wish there was a way to fix it though!

(I've also noticed that when it does import during a song, the song being played will often skip a bit, which isn't good - thus I wait until the end of the song to import any new ones):f:f

Thanks for you input, I think MTU will adress this problem down the line. Meanwhile we have to go through some delays for a while.

swany May 8th, 2008 03:39 PM

I've never noticed what you are expieriencing, but then I do what I wrote in my first answer. I normally stop with each rotation and play a few DJ requests anyway. This is when I load in tracks. I've never loaded more than 2 tracks at any one time. I have loaded at least 10 tracks in one night, two at a time and never had a shut down, of course again I was on a DJ break.

im sure they are on it.

We did extensive study on the audio dropping while importing. It turns out the CD/DVD Drive you are using is causing this problem. We fixed this with 3 customers by their upgrading to the drives MTU sells. Not trying to push our drives, but there is a reason we sell the models we do, and test and reject the failed drives we buy. You need a different DVD drive. :w

As to importing 3 songs and crashing, that's a different problem we've never heard before. Sounds like a "memory leak" somewhere. We'll solve that one in Hoster 4.00, which we are nearing release on (not tomorrow, but expected within a month).

Thanks for the info. I was not having crash problems with earlier versions, just 3.321. My laptop was bought from MTU.

I have a MTU drive (slimline for laptop) and I'm having an issue also. It doesn't shut down, but just at the end of the writing kma the audio drops out for a moment when it returns the music and lyrics are out of sync.
I'm running XP Home /w SP3, and all custom updates, Hoster 3.317. .Net Framework1. Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K06 I have been unable to find firmware updates for this drive

bburton166 May 12th, 2008 08:54 AM

I believe that after reading the above posts that I am having the same issue. I have all the settings set per the manual, however when someone walks up with their own CDG and I go to load the track, hoster crashes. I have also tried doing this when I am just playing audio and it does the same thing. I am running the current version of hoster and hope that 4.0 is out soon with the issue corrected.

stublack May 13th, 2008 12:58 AM

Will this problem be solved in 4.0 initially or in a later release? I personally don't believe in DJ breaks, and would rather tell the customer I'm not capable of playing their CDG's, at least until this problem is fixed!:)

madjim- with the Lord May 13th, 2008 02:48 AM

I just imported nine CD tracks in a row into the playlist while Hoster 3.321 was playing. I even messed with the program trying to move songs on the playlist while it was playing/importing. I could not recreate the "import three CD tracks and 3.321 crashes" bug that is being reported here. :e Hoster did not crash. :g

I'm running a Dell Desktop Pent4 3.0GHz with 512 megs of ram using a stock Dell CD (not DVD) burnner.

I hope this helps.
