Red face Same Problem

I also have the same problem. I am running Windows Vista and Hoster 3.321. After importing a few cd's throughout the show, I attempt to import another cd by clicking "CDG" then inputting the track number, song title and singer name. When I click "Import" (it doesn't matter if I do it at the beginning of a current song being sung, near the end, or when NO songs are currently being played through Hoster), I get an error message that Hoster has stopped working and is being shut down. I then have to restart Hoster, but lose any cd's I have already temporarily imported - which REALLY sucks if there were some and I don't know it, and then skip a customer. I originally thought it was just some malfunction on my new computer that I only use for karaoke, but now see it isn't!

My solution:

I input all of my singers in order, etc. If there is a singer that wants to use their own cd, I don't actually input it until they are ready to sing. I simply pick a random song from the search and add it with their name. Instead of putting "John" as the singers name, I put "John2*" so that I know that this isn't the song he actually wants to sing. I know that John is singing from his own cd and that I need to import track 2.

Right before he sings, I take a quick break. Shut down Hoster. Restart Hoster, and then import his song. This way, I don't lose my list that is below, and the only time I have to take breaks is when a customer wants to sing their own cd.

I know this isn't the way it is supposed to be done, but this solves the problem somewhat without being too difficult. I wish there was a way to fix it though!

(I've also noticed that when it does import during a song, the song being played will often skip a bit, which isn't good - thus I wait until the end of the song to import any new ones)

Red face

Thanks for you input, I think MTU will adress this problem down the line. Meanwhile we have to go through some delays for a while.

I've never noticed what you are expieriencing, but then I do what I wrote in my first answer. I normally stop with each rotation and play a few DJ requests anyway. This is when I load in tracks. I've never loaded more than 2 tracks at any one time. I have loaded at least 10 tracks in one night, two at a time and never had a shut down, of course again I was on a DJ break.

We did extensive study on the audio dropping while importing. It turns out the CD/DVD Drive you are using is causing this problem. We fixed this with 3 customers by their upgrading to the drives MTU sells. Not trying to push our drives, but there is a reason we sell the models we do, and test and reject the failed drives we buy. You need a different DVD drive.

As to importing 3 songs and crashing, that's a different problem we've never heard before. Sounds like a "memory leak" somewhere. We'll solve that one in Hoster 4.00, which we are nearing release on (not tomorrow, but expected within a month).

Thanks for the info. I was not having crash problems with earlier versions, just 3.321. My laptop was bought from MTU.

I have a MTU drive (slimline for laptop) and I'm having an issue also. It doesn't shut down, but just at the end of the writing kma the audio drops out for a moment when it returns the music and lyrics are out of sync.
I'm running XP Home /w SP3, and all custom updates, Hoster 3.317. .Net Framework1. Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K06 I have been unable to find firmware updates for this drive

I believe that after reading the above posts that I am having the same issue. I have all the settings set per the manual, however when someone walks up with their own CDG and I go to load the track, hoster crashes. I have also tried doing this when I am just playing audio and it does the same thing. I am running the current version of hoster and hope that 4.0 is out soon with the issue corrected.

Have you updated .Net Framework to at least v2 with the latest patches? You should anyway, it fixes many vulnerability issues.

Also here is the link for Pioneer for firmware updates. You might have looked here already.
