Metalgodz,
Can you try to run this program and see if it will recover your .kma files from you drive. http://www.recuva.com/

Please run this and let me know if it does find them or help you get any of them back. It should work, we think.

We are trying to figure out what is causing the files to be deleted, as there should be no way for the upgrade to do this, but it has done this a few times now.

Also what OS are you running under?

Paretologic for recovering lost data

Not sure what you're asking - I went to Paretologic, performed the recovery (you can watch it scan and recover) - on the left is a list of the types of files it is scanning, and on the right, the number of actual files it recovered. I scrolled to the bottom of the dialogue box and watched it recover 10,000 "other types of files" or something like that. It is taking a while but they're being recovered.

You can see it is recovering data (Lordy, I hope I'm not talking too soon!touch wood) ... and then when you see it has found what you're looking for, you pay for it $39, then it actually recovers the data.

I can see the progress - it is counting down from the 10,000-plus that were there, seeing each file that is being recovered.
